Abstract:
The invention provides a method and apparatus for enabling DTMF signal processing in the core VoIP network. More specifically, the present invention enables a VoIP network to recognize and respond to special DTMF signals entered by a user and initiate the appropriate service logic response to satisfy the user's service request.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and communication network system that allows an endpoint to be simultaneously registered with more than one communications server is described. In one embodiment, the communication network system includes a network, a plurality of communications servers that are coupled to the network, and a plurality of endpoints coupled to the network. Each endpoint is capable of being simultaneously registered with more than one communications server. A communication method for an endpoint involves registering a first logical line of the endpoint with a first communications server, and registering a second logical line of the endpoint with a second communications server. Consequently, flexibility is obtained by allowing an endpoint to choose the registering communications server for each logical line of the endpoint.
Abstract:
Method and system for determining the best path to be followed by a data stream within a communication network including several nodes communicating with one another through arteries. The method further includes an application QSAi executing the method steps, the location of the output gateway, the calculation of the routing cost, the instigation of a timeout proportional to the previously calculated cost, the setting up of the route between the caller and the called party, the preemption of resources, and the configuration of the router by imposition of the output port. The method further includes an input handler and an output handler, each linked to a router of the network. Each of the handlers includes a QSP application ensuring the conversion of the multimedia protocol into a protocol for routing in the network and a call and location server making it possible to steer the multimedia calls toward the QSP.
Abstract:
A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes communicating initial digits associated with an original request for a call and receiving a message indicating an incomplete address for the original request. The method also includes responding to the message by appending additional digits to the original request to generate a new request. The additional digits are buffered before receiving the message indicating the incomplete address associated with the original request. In other embodiments, the original request is a session initiation protocol (SIP) INVITE message that includes a uniform resource identifier (URI), which reflects an address for reaching a destination user. The initial digits can be partially matched against a dial plan in order to trigger the message associated with the original request. The additional digits are configured to satisfy the message and to connect the call. The message associated with the original request can be a session initiation protocol (SIP) 484 message.
Abstract:
A method is provided of monitoring a packet-switched network via which real-time data is transmitted. Data packets containing real-time data are sniffed by a monitor subagent to monitor a quality-of-service parameter. A monitor agent is notified in response to a breach of the threshold of the quality-of-service parameter about the breach. A network node manager is notified about the breach, and a root cause analysis is performed.
Abstract:
An improved system and method are disclosed for peer-to-peer communications. In one example, the method is for connecting an endpoint that is separated from another endpoint by a symmetric network address translation device.

Abstract:
System and method for processing communication signals in a communication system having a detector for detecting a parameter of a communication signal. A communication signal is provided to a non-linear processor (NLP) adapted to examine the signal and to decide whether or not to enter an active state based upon a parameter of the signal. If the NLP enters an active state, the NLP performs non-linear processing on the signal. The NLP communicates to the detector whether the NLP is active or inactive. If the NLP is active, a processing step of the detector is disabled.
Abstract:
A local server 400 includes a list generator 440 configured to convert a language format compatible with a public server 500 to another language format compatible with a local reproduction device 300. The list generator 440 converts the list of content data stored in the public server 500 to a list of content data written in a language format compatible with the local reproduction device 300. The local server 400 transmits the resultant list of content data converted by the list generator 440 to the local reproduction device 300.
Abstract:
Bandwidth of a subscriber line, such as a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), that carries Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone calls and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) transmissions is allocated. A message is sent from a VoIP call processor that is associated with the subscriber line and a video server that is associated with the subscriber line, so as to allow a VoIP call to take place at a desired quality of service, notwithstanding concurrent transmission of IPTV to the subscriber line by the video server. The message may be sent by the VoIP call processor in response to initiating setup of a VoIP call for the subscriber line by the VoIP call processor.
