Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for design of channel raster for narrowband operation. One example method, performed by a base station, generally includes determining, based on one or more conditions, an exact frequency location of one channel of one or more channels to perform narrowband communications with a user equipment. The method also includes transmitting an indication of the one or more conditions to the user equipment. The method further includes communicating with the UE, based at least in part on the exact frequency location of the one channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A wireless device may receive an allocation of uplink resources for an uplink transmission of uplink control information (UCI) during a long physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), which may range from four to fourteen symbol periods in length. The wireless device may identify a frequency hopping location based on the length of the PUCCH and a number of bits used to represent the UCI. In some cases, the frequency hopping location partitions the long PUCCH into a first set of symbol periods and a second set of symbol periods. After identifying the frequency hopping location, the wireless device may transmit a UCI message, which may include information and reference symbols, over a first frequency bandwidth during the first set of symbol periods and over a second frequency bandwidth during the second set of symbol periods.

Abstract: Cell selection techniques are provided for network access to cells that may employ one or more coverage enhancement techniques. A user equipment (UE), which may be a machine type communication (MTC) device, upon initial acquisition or upon wakeup may measure a reference signal received power (RSRP), reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or both, and determine a cell selection value based at least in part on the RSRP, RSRQ, or a combination thereof. The cell selection value may be determined based on an offset, which may be selected based on a measurement accuracy capability of the UE. UE sequential access attempts, neighbor cell list information that may include coverage enhancement of neighboring cells transmissions, and cell re-selection measurement frequency adjustments are also described.

In some examples, after scheduling all regular uplink transmissions within a current slot, a base station (e.g., gNB) may identify a set of unused uplink resources within the current slot and generate and transmit unused resource information identifying the set of unused resources to the user equipment (UE) within the cell served by the base station. If a particular UE is configured to operate in an opportunistic mode, the UE may utilize the unused resource information to generate and transmit an opportunistic uplink transmission within the set of unused uplink resources.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communication systems configured to provide user equipment (UE)-specific slot structures based on the individual propagation delay experienced by each UE. In some examples, the duration of uplink transmissions for a particular UE within a slot may be configured based on the propagation delay between the base station and that particular UE. For example, the duration of an uplink burst and/or an uplink traffic transmission may be configured based on the propagation delay. In addition, a downlink burst within a slot may be configured for a particular UE on the propagation delay experienced by that UE. Downlink traffic transmissions may further be configured for the cell based on the maximum propagation delay experienced by the UEs in the cell.
