Abstract:
An electrochemical device (such as a battery) includes at least one electrode having a fluid surface, which may employ a surface energy effect to maintain a position of the fluid surface and/or to modulate flow within the fluid. Fluid-directing structures may also modulate flow or retain fluid in a predetermined pattern. An electrolyte within the device may also include an ion-transport fluid, for example infiltrated into a porous solid support.
Abstract:
A classification method and system for possible content alteration of a media work may include criteria regarding content that is feasible for alteration. Such criteria may be maintained in records that are accessible to an interested party. Some embodiments may include a record of primary authorization rights applicable to a possible content alteration. A further embodiment feature may include a record of secondary authorization rights applicable to substitute altered content incorporated in a derivative version. Various systems and methods may be used to incorporate substitute content in a derivative version of the media work in compliance with applicable modification guidelines. In some instances substitute promotional content may have some association with a real-world topic or real-world entity or real-world person.
Abstract:
A display system includes an image generator that generates an image and a control circuit that reduces or eliminates the viewer's perception of a visual artifact when the viewer's gaze shifts with respect to the image. For example, such a display system may generate a fill-in light to reduce or eliminate the viewer's perception of flicker or other visual artifacts when the viewer shifts his gaze with respect to an exit pupil through which the generated image is viewed. The system may match the fill-in light's brightness, color, or both the brightness and color to the brightness and/or color of the image.
Abstract:
An arrangement includes a photonic band-gap assembly comprising at least one input wave guide and at least one output wave guides, and at least one routing element responsive to signals to selectively route a signal from the input wave guide to one or more of the output wave guides.
