摘要: An enhanced toy produces repeating, decaying notes in response to applied pressure. The tone of each note is determined, based on the location at which a user applies pressure. The initial amplitude of each note is proportional to the intensity, as measured by a stress sensor. The toy periodically repeats each note, attenuating the amplitude of each successive repetition by a decay factor. The toy may alter the notes associated with each of a plurality of locations. For example, if all currently repeating notes have decayed below a predetermined threshold, the currently available set of notes may be exchanged for a new set of notes, e.g. with different tones or timbres. The stress sensors may comprise flexible capacitors within the toy. As the user applies pressure, the geometry of one or more capacitors deform, altering the measured capacitance, through which the intensity of the applied pressure is determined.

摘要: Touch sensor gesture recognition for operation of mobile devices. An embodiment of a mobile device includes a touch sensor for the detection of gestures, the touch sensor including multiple sensor elements, and a processor, the processor to interpret the gestures detected by the touch sensor, where the mobile device divides the plurality of sensor elements into multiple zones, and the mobile device interprets the gestures based at least in part on which of the zones detects the gesture. An embodiment of a mobile device includes a touch sensor for the detection of gestures, the touch sensor including multiple sensor elements, and a processor, the processor to interpret the gestures detected by the touch sensor, where the processor is to identify one or more dominant actions for an active application or a function of the active application and is to choose a gesture identification algorithm from a plurality of gesture recognition algorithms based at least in part on identified one or more dominant actions, and is to determine a first intended action of a user based on an interpretation of a first gesture using the chosen gesture identification algorithm. An embodiment of a mobile device includes a touch sensor for the detection of gestures, the touch sensor including multiple sensor elements, and a processor, the processor to interpret the gestures detected by the touch sensor, and a mapping between touch sensor data and actual positions of user gestures, the mapping of data being generated by an artificial neural network, where the processor utilizes the mapping at least in part to interpret the gestures.

摘要: Various embodiments of methods and systems for constructing, configuring, and utilizing displays constructed from superimposed display subunits are disclosed. In one aspect, a display includes a first display subunit including a first plurality of light modulating elements, a second display subunit including a second plurality of light modulating elements, an optical system configured to optically superimpose each light modulating element of the first plurality with a corresponding light modulating element of the second plurality, and electronic circuitry configured to control operation of light modulating elements in the first display subunit to compensate for defective light modulating elements in the second display subunit. Light modulating elements may modulate light in a respective characteristic patterns. Display subunits containing light modulating or light emitting elements may be superimposed physically or optically to form superimposed display elements. Superimposed display subunits may be configured to compensate for ‘bad’, non-functioning, or malfunctioning display elements. Electrical and optical components may be used to configure superimposed display elements.
