    摘要: A time-of-use watt-hour meter is provided with demand profile capability that defines a plurality of survey periods and demand intervals. During each survey period, electrical consumption is measured during a plurality of demand intervals. The highest measured interval demand occurring during each survey period is saved and compared to the highest interval demands for subsequent survey periods. The five highest interval demands occurring during a billing period are saved for inspection by both the electric utility and the consumer. The use of the survey periods and demand intervals has the beneficial affect of avoiding clusters of peak periods occurring during a single sustained period of high electrical consumption. The results of the demand profile data compilation can be viewed at the watt-hour meter or remotely.

    摘要: An improved fuse removing apparatus including an elongated housing, a pair of complementary jaws extending generally longitudinally outwardly from the housing for engagement with a fuse. The complementary jaws are secured within the housing in longitudinal sliding relationship such that a plate at the end of the housing forces the jaws towards each other when the complementary jaws are urged into the housing. A cap disposed over the plate causes the jaws to rotate during use so as to lockingly engage the plate and thereby firmly grip a fuse without having to manually rotate the housing. All that is necessary to lock the device onto the fuse is to simply push the apparatus onto the exposed part of a fuse. A minimum of manual rotation is all that is required to disengage the jaws from the locking plate, and thereby release the retained fuse.

    摘要: A summing watt-hour transducer is connected to a three-phase power line to monitor the energy being supplied to one load, and is connected to an ordinary watt-hour transducer that monitors energy supplied to a second load. A summing integrator circuit sums and integrates signals derived from the power line and the ordinary watt-hour transducer to obtain a voltage proportional to a unit of total energy demand. The summing operation is triggered by a signal from a control circuit that is responsive to contact closure pulses from the ordinary watt-hour transducer. Output signals from the summing integrator circuit are converted to contact closures for input of energy demand signals to an energy demand/schedule controller.

    摘要: Indicating devices for mounting on a test point in an alternating current distribution system provide a visual indication of either voltage level or fault occurrence in the system. The indicating devices are contained in a housing which includes an electrically-conductive rubber outer shell adapted to snap-fit over the test point, and a non-conductive inner housing within which the indicating devices are contained. The indicating devices include a bridge-type rectifier which is coupled to a conductor of the system through the test point terminal, and to ground through the electrically-conductive outer shell. In a voltage indicator application, the rectifier circuit charges a capacitor across which a neon lamp visible through a window in the end of the housing is connected, the rate at which the neon lamp flashes providing an indication of the voltage level on the conductor. In a fault indicator application, the rectifier charges a capacitor which provides current for tripping an indicator flag to a fault-indicating position following a fault, and to a reset position upon restoration of alternating current in the system.

    摘要: A method of and circuit for monitoring the amplitude of a sine wave-shaped electrical signal in a defined range of a signal period, wherein the signal is derived from scanning an object which is to be measured or controlled. A comparison circuit is provided which compares the signal being monitored to a reference signal and generates a first impulse signal which is applied to a logic gate. A second impulse signal generating network generates a second impulse signal determining the range of the signal period by adding at least one signal derived from additional signals contained in the signal spectrum to the signal being monitored. This impulse is also applied to the logic circuit. The logic circuit produces a switching signal for operating an indicator or control device.

    摘要: A voltage detector apparatus comprises a thin, cylindrical, electrically-insulative casing having an angled, finger-like probe extending axially from one end, and providing accommodation for active and other components which are assembled on a support which fits into the casing and screw-threadedly engages with the casing at its other end. The support is of electrically-insulating material and has two end portions which are spaced apart from one another by a hollow hub. The end portions accommodate active circuit components adjacent the probe end of the casing, and a buzzer or like warning device adjacent the other end of the casing. The hub is externally shaped to define with the casing recesses for accommodating batteries for powering the apparatus, and has a hollow core within which is mounted an electrical switch. The switch is operated by depressing the buzzer, which is formed as a modular unit, against spring bias, the buzzer unit being accessible for this purpose from the end of the casing.

    摘要: A digital readout test probe comprises: a dual in-line pin, clip-on-type connector for connection to a dual in-line pin integrated circuit; a housing containing a single digit decimal readout display; and a converter circuit whose output drives the readout and whose input is coupled with the clip-on connector by means of color coded lead wires. The display and converter circuit are energized from a separate power supply. When the connector is operatively connected with an integrated circuit, signals from selected terminal pins of the integrated circuit are supplied through the lead wires to the converter circuit. The selected terminal pins provide a binary coded decimal signal and the display shows the decimal value of the binary coded decimal signal so that the user of the probe does not have to decode the binary coded decimal signal into decimal form. The clip-type connector comprises a plurality of conductors each of which conducts a signal from a corresponding terminal pin of the integrated circuit. Each lead wire is uniquely color coded according to the significance of the particular binary digit (bit) input of the converter circuit to which one end of it is fixedly connected. The other end of each lead wire terminates in a hollow pin terminal which may be manually engaged with, and disengaged from, any of the conductors of the clip-type connector whereby the test probe may be conveniently programmed for use with any of the large number of available dual in-line pin integrated circuits.

    摘要: A system for tracing electrical cables within a building utilizing in combination a pulsing electrical load and a standard clamp-on type ammeter. In operation the intermittent current flow can easily be detected and cables can readily be traced from outlet to circuit breaker. The novel pulsing electrical load draws current at a characteristic rate that is independent of the amount of current drawn, so that various load resistances can be used, to suit the circuit being traced. If desired, the standard clamp-on ammeter could be replaced by a detector designed for use with the pulsing load.

    摘要: Utility usage monitoring systems for monitoring the consumption or use of a particular utility and displaying the accumulated use in terms of its cost. The rate of usage of the utility is converted to a pulse train with a repetition rate dependent upon the usage. In one embodiment, a calculator chip having an automatic constant capability and coupled to an electronic display is caused to successively execute a summing operation dependent upon the pulse train repetition rate and to provide a cumulative total for display. A keyboard is provided to enter the automatic constant, and to allow the change thereof to provide the proper utility cost or charge. Another embodiment utilizes a microprocessor coupled to a display for displaying the accumulated utility usage, with the microprocessor being programmed to repetitively update the display. Provisions may be made for entering such parameters as base charges and utility cost break points in accordance with the utility billing practice so as to provide a high degree of accuracy in the accumulated readout. Incorporation of reading and printing devices and a timekeeping capability allows alteration billing rates, billing by mail, time of day (peak hour) rate adjustment and automatic load control and shedding. Various embodiments are disclosed.
