摘要: A method and catalyst for the determination of nitrate in water which has been obtained by reduction of a solution of a salt of a transition metal or group VIII of the periodic system and a transition metal salt of the copper group in the presence of an acid. The nitrate determination is effected by determining the nitrate extinction of a sample of water as compared with a blank sample in the UV region at 210 nm, a part of the sample of water whose nitrate has been reduced in the presence of hydrogen with the use of the catalyst of the invention being employed as blank sample.

摘要: The method of oxidizing organic compounds, such as 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene, in an aqueous system of pH not more than about 4, the method comprising oxidizing the organic compound by contacting the compound with an oxidizing agent, such as air, in the aqueous system in the presence of a catalytic amount of a cocatalyst system, is improved by using as the cocatalyst system a catalytic combination of nitrate ions, at least one of either bromide ions or iodide ions, and transition metal ions of at least one transition metal having two or more oxidation states, such as vanadium ions. This cocatalyst system enhances the rate of oxidation of the organic compounds.

摘要: Method and apparatus for removing sulfur dioxide from a gas mixture, particularly from combustion gases. The gases are scrubbed with a aqueous scrubbing liquid containing dissolved therein an inorganic reactant capable of forming a sulfite salt with the sulfur dioxide and an oxidization catalyst capable of oxidizing the sulfite salt to the corresponding sulfate salt during the scrubbing process. If the gas mixture does not contain sufficient oxygen, then air may be added during scrubbing.

摘要: A method for producing dicarboxylic acid. The method includes: subjecting a raw material system including a cyclic olefin and a lower monocarboxylic acid to an addition reaction in the presence of an addition reaction catalyst to generate an intermediate product system including cyclic carboxylic acid ester; and subjecting the intermediate product system including cyclic carboxylic acid ester to a ring-opening and oxidation reaction in the presence of an oxidant and an oxidation catalyst to generate a corresponding dicarboxylic acid product. The addition reaction in the dicarboxylic acid synthesis route achieves a high single-pass conversion rate, and the selectivity of the corresponding cyclic carboxylic acid ester is high. The addition-oxidation synthesis route achieves faster reaction rates for both the addition reaction and oxidation reaction, and high yield of corresponding dicarboxylic acid product. The addition-oxidation based synthesis route is suitable for continuous, stable and large-scale production of corresponding dicarboxylic acid product.

摘要: An apparatus includes a substrate having a surface and a transparent photocatalyst coating secured on the surface of the substrate, wherein the transparent photocatalyst coating includes titanium oxide and a component selected from a fluorescent dye, ultra-fine glitter, indium tin oxide, aluminum zinc oxide, silver nitrate, and combinations thereof. The substrate is preferably selected from an appliance handle, doorknob, switch, keyboard, countertop, appliance handle, equipment button, touchscreen, handrail, light emitting device, and light cover. Such substrates are frequently touched by one or more users and may become contaminated. However, the transparent photocatalyst coating may be self-decontaminating.

摘要: The present invention belongs to the flue gas desulfuration field. Specifically, the present invention relates to a supported solid-phase catalyst for oxidizing the by-product magnesium sulfite in a magnesium desulfuration process, and to preparation method and use thereof. The catalyst uses an activated carbon particle as a support, and cobalt nitrate, manganese nitrate, copper nitrate and ferrous nitrate as catalytically active components. The preparation method is as follows: mixing the pre-treated activated carbon support with the catalytically active components, followed by oscillating, standing under microwave irradiation, filtrating, drying, baking, so as to obtain the supported solid-phase catalyst. Raw materials of the present invention are inexpensive and easily available; the preparation process is simple; the catalyst has prominent catalytic effect and can be widely used in the magnesium desulfuration process in medium-sized and small-sized boilers of 75t or more to improve the recovery rate of the desulfuration by-product and reduce energy consumption of the oxidation system; the catalyst has a low amount of catalytically active components and causes low residue in the solution and hence no secondary pollution problem, and has a high generalization value.
