摘要: In a method for producing plastic pipes, a melt strand is produced in an extruder and pushed through a pipe head for entry into a vacuum suction device, where the melted strand is formed into a pipe with a preliminary outer diameter. A selected sizing sleeve of a plurality of different sizing sleeves is placed in a sizing chamber for calibrating the outer diameter of the pipe in the sizing chamber to a desired dimension. Different sizing sleeves can be inserted into a sizing chamber. This can be achieved by a gripping device, whereby either the tubular melt strand is severed to allow axial insertion of the selected sizing sleeve over the pipe or into the sizing chamber, or the extrusion line is operated at creep speed, to allow the sizing sleeve to be placed around the pipe. The sizing sleeve is hereby split into segments for placement about the pipe, and the sizing sleeve is then inserted into the sizing chamber.

摘要: A polymeric composite useful for producing large shaped articles such as railroad crossties comprisesa filler component having minimal reinforcing/structural characteristics; and a polymer blend including at least one polymeric stiffening component, at least one polymeric density component, and at least one polymeric flexibility component. The polymer blend can include post-consumer recycled thermoplastic polymers. To produce the composite, a multistage extruder brings a blend of polymer and filler materials to an extrudable threshold without completely liquefying the polymer blend. The extruded blend is cooled within a mold to form a shaped article such as a recycled composite crosstie. Exemplary recycled composite mixtures may include composite polymer materials, such as, polypropylene, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (HMW), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), ABS, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), and combinations of these polymers. The filler may include talc, fly ash, potash, and combinations of these or other mineral powder products.

摘要: An apparatus for removing NMMO-water mixture which collects in the interior of a tubular film which is produced by the NMMO process comprises a spinning vat and a wash vat. Between the two vats is situated a conveyor belt which circulates endlessly over two rollers. The conveyor belt is directed upward at an incline from the spinning vat to the wash vat. The tubular film, in the interior of the spinning vat, is passed vertically downward, then reversed and conducted vertically out of the spinning vat and passes over the inclined conveyor belt into the wash vat. Above the conveyor belt is situated a spray device having spraying nozzles from which wash liquid at a temperature between 60 and 80null C. is sprayed onto the tubular film which is transported via the conveyor belt.

摘要: A method and system (10) of fabricating elastomeric compounds is provided. The method includes the steps of establishing a thermo-kinetically heated high speed mixer (100) and introducing into that high speed mixer (100) in predetermined quantities a comminuted rubber composition (110), a plasticizing agent composition (120), and at least one additive composition (130, 132, 134). The method includes the further step of simultaneously mixing and thermo-kinetically heating the comminuted rubber (110), plasticizing agent (120), and additive compositions (130, 132, 134) in the high speed mixer (100) for a predetermined residence time period to form a first intermediate mixture composition. The first intermediate mixture composition contains a substantially homogenous mixture of the comminuted rubber (110), plasticizing agent (120), and additive compositions (130, 132, 134). The first intermediate mixture composition is introduced with a plastic composition into a heated multi-stage extruder (500) to form a second intermediate mixture composition extrusively shaped to a predetermined sectional contour. The second intermediate mixture composition is thereafter dried to form an elastomeric compound.

摘要: Automotive trim strips (32) are made by extruding a thermoplastic material onto a foil carrier (24). The foil carrier (24) has a receiving surface having a low strength adhesive for releasably receiving the thermoplastic material (22). The thermoplastic material is end formed to contour ends of the thermoplastic material such that an automotive trim strip (32) is formed having a predetermined final length. The automotive trim strips (32) are then cooled. The foil carrier (24) is removed presenting a substantially flat surface for receiving adhesives for permanently attaching the automotive trim strip (32) to the vehicle.
