The water flow guide provides an accurately guided pressurized water flow which enables pelletization of polymers of various diameters and a wide range of specific gravity and rheological characteristics.

    摘要: An insulation plug is disclosed for mounting in and generally filling a central recess in the die face of an extrusion die in an underwater pelletizer. The insulation plug is in the form of a rigid circular plate that substantially fills the recess in the die face oriented in opposed relation to a cutter hub and cutter knives of the underwater pelletizer and is secured in place by a fastening bolt. The insulation plug may be made of solid one piece construction or hollow two piece construction, but is made of a material having low heat conductivity. The plug has raised and recessed portions to form bottom and side air gaps within the recess. The plug reduces the transfer of heat from the molten polymer being extruded through orifices in the die plate to water circulating through a water box of the underwater pelletizer. A rigid bushing or spacer may be used in existing extrusion die plates to maintain the bottom air gap against compressive forces generated by the fastening bolt when attaching the circular plate.

    摘要: A pelletizing die includes a pelletizing die member with a die exit side exposed to cooling fluid and a die entry side for receiving polymer fed thereto. The die member has a plurality of polymer channels and a plurality of extrusion orifices connected to a respective one of the channels to form a extrusion orifice section. A heating medium system has additional heating medium conduits between channels and a supply and intermediate header for heating the channels (radially from each side) and providing once in and once out heating medium flow. The die member may be formed by high temperature brazing of components using coordinated solder (Ni based or gold-nickel) and component heat treatment temperature. A thin hard face coating may be provided on raised extrusion orifice ring faces around each extrusion orifice section.

    摘要: An underwater pelletizer cutting system allowing fine adjustments of the relative spacial relationship between an extrusion die and the blades of a cutting assembly. The cutting assembly, which may be self-aligning in nature, is borne on the end of a drive shaft driven by a motor mounted on a carriage. The carriage is moveable relative a fixed frame by a servomotor driving a ball screw. The ball screw, which preferably has zero backlash, has a shaft attached at one end to the carriage for moving the carriage. A PLC control system may be provided to accept inputs from an operator and to run a cutting program, providing appropriate signals to the servomotor to advance the cutting assembly as needed as the blades of the cutting assembly wear. The PLC system may receive signals from a measuring system adapted to measure the contact pressure between the cutting assembly and the face of the extrusion die.

    摘要: Provided is a method for producing an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin that ensures efficient removal of alcohol without worsening the working environment. The method comprises introducing an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer solution containing at least 50 parts by weight of an alcohol having a boiling point of not higher than 100null C., relative to 100 parts by weight of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer therein, into an apparatus, and contacting it with water in the apparatus, thereby letting the alcohol along with water out of the apparatus and taking the resulting aqueous ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition that contains from 0 to 10 parts by weight of the alcohol and from 10 to 1000 parts by weight of water, relative to 100 parts by weight of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer therein, (step 1), and a step of feeding the aqueous ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition into an extruder, kneading it in melt therein, and then extruding the copolymer out of the extruder (step 2). Also provided is a method for producing pellets of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin, of which the advantages are that the method enables stable production and rapid washing of the pellets and that the pellets produced can enjoy stable extrusion and thermal stability in long-run extrusion working lines. The method comprises cutting the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin extruded out of the extruder in the step 2 in the resin production method.

C. which is lower than a temperature of the resin by 140-220.degree. C., and cutting the extrudate with a cutter blade in the warm water. According to this invention, uniformly dispersed compounds are obtained, and switching of a raw resin can be done speedily and economically, and further, resin granules of a desired shape can be produced.
