    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Wireless devices may use multiple transmission modes to enable association and authentication procedures for wireless devices with different capabilities. For example, a station may receive, in response to a broadcast probe request, a probe response frame formatted according to a first transmission mode. The station may then transmit a second probe request frame formatted according to the first transmission mode. At some later time, the station may identify that the second probe request frame was not received by the wireless device, and may transmit another probe request frame formatted according to an extended range transmission mode. The station may then establish a connection with the wireless device by completing an association and authentication procedure, and proceed to transmit data or control frames formatted according to the extended range transmission mode.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for saving power in wireless communications. One aspect includes providing an indication of a sleep duration for transmission to a wireless node, communicating with the wireless node during a target wakeup time (TWT), wherein the communication comprises at least one of providing data for transmission to the wireless node or obtaining data received from the wireless node, and refraining from providing data for transmission to the wireless node for at least the indicated sleep duration based at least in part on timing of the communication. Another aspect includes receiving an indication of a sleep duration from a wireless node, communicating with the wireless node during a time slot of a TWT, and entering a sleep mode for the indicated sleep duration based at least in part on timing of the communication with the wireless node during the time slot of the TWT.

    Abstract: A personal identification device may conserve power by delegating one or more operations to another device. For example, the one or more operations may be associated with the authentication of the personal identification device. In one example, the personal identification device may determine an amount of power greater than a power threshold will be consumed by the personal identification device to perform the one or more operations. The personal identification device may determine it can communicate with a mobile device that is capable of performing the one or more operations, and may then delegate the one or more operations to the mobile device to conserve power. In one example, the personal identification device may receive the results of the one or more operations from the mobile device, and may provide data associated with the results to a personal identification device detector for authentication of the personal identification device.
