    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for beam switching by a repeater node that forwards communications from one of a first node or a second node to the other of the first node or the second node. For example, after a change of position by the second node, the first node may provide the repeater node an instruction to perform a beam change operation to communicate with the second node. In some aspects, performing the beam change operation by the repeater node may improve reliability of wireless communications, such as by focusing signal energy in a particular direction. Further, a beam change delay time interval or a scheduling of the beam change delay time interval may be selected based on scheduling associated with other nodes, which may reduce a number of messages sent to the repeater node (such as by reducing instructions to change beam directions).

    Abstract: The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support modem control using millimeter wave (mmW) energy measurement. Generally, the described techniques provide for wireless device (e.g., wireless repeater) power savings in the absence of an attached (e.g., connected) user equipment (UE). For example, a wireless repeater may perform relay operations (e.g., amplification and forwarding operations) for communications between a base station and a UE in some channel (e.g., in a mmW channel). The wireless repeater may use energy measurements in the channel (e.g., analog mmW measurements) to control or configure a digital interface for monitoring out of band control information (e.g., in a sub-6 gigahertz (GHz) channel). For example, a wireless repeater may use energy measurements of signals transmitted by devices in a mmW band to configure (e.g., turn on) a digital interface of another modem to monitor for control information in a sub-6 GHz band.

    Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable mediums for wireless communication are disclosed by the present disclosure. In an example, a first wireless communication device may transmit, to a relay node, a first predicted motion of a first vehicle including the first wireless communication device having a first established communication channel with the relay node. The first wireless communication device may receive an indication that the first predicted motion will trigger a communication condition for the first vehicle and a second wireless communication device having a second established communication channel with the relay node, the indication including reserved resources for a third communication channel between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device. The first wireless communication device may communicate with the second wireless communication device using the reserved resources for a third communication channel without performing a random access procedure with the second wireless communication device.

    Abstract: In some aspects, a node may configure whether a set of soft time resources is to be conditionally released or unconditionally released. The set of soft time resources may be configurable in a schedulable state or a non-schedulable state. The set of soft time resources may be schedulable subject to at most a directionality constraint when unconditionally released and, when conditionally released, being schedulable subject to: the directionality constraint and one or more conditions other than the directionality constraint if the set of soft resources is configured subject to the directionality constraint, or at least one of the directionality constraint or the one or more conditions other than the directionality constraint if the set of soft resources is not configured subject to the directionality constraint. The node may transmit a configuration that indicates whether the set of soft time resources is conditionally released or unconditionally released in the schedulable state.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support different, or adjusted, random access channel (RACH) preamble formats for efficient use of shared RACH time-frequency resources. The described techniques provide for assigning different RACH preamble formats to wireless devices that have a higher link budget, whereupon the devices may transmit the different RACH preamble using the link budget available to them in one or more RACH transmission opportunities in the shared RACH time-frequency resources. Such methods, systems, and devices may allow for more RACH transmission opportunities, as well as less interference between RACH transmissions. For example, wireless devices communicating over a backhaul network may have a higher link budget than wireless devices communicating over an access network. As such, RACH preambles transmitted by the wireless devices communicating over the backhaul network may be shorter than RACH preambles transmitted by the wireless devices communicating over the access network.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide a repeater for beamforming a received signal at a millimeter wave (mmW) radio frequency via one or more scan angles or beamforming directions and then retransmitting and beamforming the signal at the mmW radio frequency. Repeaters may include analog and digital components for downconverting on the received signal to reduce a frequency of the signal from the mmW frequency to an intermediate frequency (IF) or baseband frequency, and then filtering the downconverted signal to reduce interference. The filtering may include digital filtering or a combination of analog and digital filtering, in which a set of filter coefficients for the digital filtering is selected based on beamforming parameters used to receive the signal, retransmit the signal, or both. The repeater may then upconvert the filtered signal back to the mmW frequency for the retransmission of the signal.
