    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may monitor for a transmission of a synchronization signal block that includes a first portion generated using a first waveform type and a second portion using a second waveform type that is different than the first waveform type. The wireless device may detect the first portion of the synchronization signal block based on the first waveform type used for the first portion. After detecting the first portion of the synchronization signal block, the wireless device may process the second portion of the synchronization signal block based on information obtained from the first portion of the synchronization signal block. The information obtained from the first portion of the synchronization signal block may include timing information, frequency information, or both.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described and may include a user terminal and a satellite establishing a communication link over a channel having a channel delay and a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE) delay being determined based on the channel delay. The user terminal and the satellite may be within a non-terrestrial network (NTN). The user terminal may receive a MAC-CE command that indicates a communication parameter to be implemented or adjusted. The user terminal may transmit feedback, for example, to the satellite in response to the MAC-CE command, and the user terminal and the satellite may communicate according to the communication parameter in the MAC-CE command after an end of the MAC-CE delay.

    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for paging a user terminal (UT) in a non-terrestrial network (NTN), which may define a plurality of NTN tracking areas (TA). Each NTN TA, served by one or more satellite beams, may move or may be a geographic region. The UT may report its location before changing its connection state with the NTN and may also update its location whenever it moves a threshold distance from the previous reported location. The NTN may estimate UT's current location based on the last reported location and other factors including mobility of the UT. The NTN may determine a UT TA as the NTN TA that corresponds to the current location, and may page the UT through one or more satellite beams corresponding to the UT TA.

    Abstract: In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration from a base station that indicates whether to use a first channel quality indicator (CQI) table from a first set of CQI tables associated with terrestrial network communications or whether to use a second CQI table from a second set of CQI tables associated with non-terrestrial network communications. The UE may transmit CQI feedback to the base station based at least in part on the configuration. The UE may transmit the CQI feedback using the first CQI table when the configuration indicates that the first CQI table is to be used or may transmit the CQI feedback using the second CQI table when the configuration indicates that the second CQI table is to be used.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may generate a set of symbols, wherein each symbol of the set of symbols includes a first portion including data and a second portion including a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence, wherein the second portion of each symbol is positioned at the end of the respective symbol. Th wireless device may add, to a beginning of each symbol in the set of symbols, a cyclic prefix including the DMRS sequence in the second portion of the respective symbol. The wireless device may then transmit the set of symbols, including the cyclic prefix at the beginning of each respective symbol, in a burst over a wireless channel using a single-carrier waveform.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some networks, a user equipment (UE) may switch between serving beams of a transmitting device that are associated with different bandwidth parts of a radio frequency spectrum. To improve aspects of beam measurement and selection, a UE may be configured to support various techniques for beam measurement according to the different bandwidth parts. For example, a UE may receive a beam measurement configuration associated with one or more beams, and may monitor for reference signals associated with the beams using the different bandwidth parts. The UE may determine a channel quality of one or more of the beams based on the monitoring, and transmit a beam measurement report to the network in accordance with the beam measurement configuration. In some examples, such a report may be transmitted based on the UE determining that an event condition is satisfied.

A user equipment (UE) and a satellite of a non-terrestrial network (NTN) may establish communications on a beam of the satellite. The UE may receive, on a first carrier of a first set of carriers associated with a first beam, a configuration for the first set of carriers associated with the first beam and a second set of carriers associated with a second beam. The first carrier may be used to send a first set of synchronization signals, and a second carrier of the second set of carriers may be used to send a second set of synchronization signals. The UE may identify some system information associated with the second set of carriers based on the configuration and reselect to the second beam based on the configuration.

The UE may identify location information corresponding to the location of the UE with respect to the network entity. The UE may identify beam geometry information for one or more beams associated with the network entity. For example, the UE may receive the beam geometry information from the network entity. The UE may process the location information and the beam geometry information to identify a second set of one or more beams, the second set different than the first set. The UE and the network entity may communicate according to the second set of one or more beams.

For example, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, an indication of a capability of the UE to switch from monitoring a set of frequency resources according to a first subcarrier spacing (SCS) to monitoring the set of frequency resources according to a second SCS, less than the first SCS. The indication may indicate an amount of time for the UE to switch between SCSs. The UE may receive, from the base station, signaling that indicates a configuration for monitoring the set of frequency resources according to the second SCS (e.g., a configuration for a reduced SCS window). The UE may switch from monitoring the set of frequency resources according to the first SCS to monitoring the set of frequency resources according to the second SCS based on receiving the configuration for monitoring the set of frequency resources.
