Abstract:
Techniques for managing operation on a communication medium shared between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) are disclosed. The management may comprise, for example, monitoring the medium for first RAT signaling in accordance with a first RAT; determining a utilization metric associated with utilization of the medium by the first RAT signaling; cycling operation in accordance with a second RAT between activated periods and deactivated periods of communication over the medium in accordance with a Time Division Multiple Access (TDM) communication pattern based on the utilization metric; and periodically disabling the cycling to provide an AOS period of activated communication over the medium for operation in accordance with the second RAT, with the AOS period being longer than an individual activated period of the TDM communication pattern. The management may also comprise, for example, techniques for enabling/disabling monitoring by an access terminal in accordance with the TDM communication pattern.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for Carrier Sense Adaptive Transmission (CSAT) for reducing interference between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) in unlicensed spectrum are disclosed. A small cell base station may receive signals via a resource, wherein a first RAT is used to receive the signals, and classify interference on the resource associated with the first RAT based on the received signals. Based on the interference classification, one or more cycling parameters may be set for a Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) communication pattern defining activated and deactivated periods of transmission for a second RAT sharing the resource, and operation of the second RAT may be cycled between activated and deactivated periods of transmission over the resource in accordance with the TDM communication pattern.
Abstract:
Adaption of a Basic Service Set (BSS) Basic Rate Set for a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Access Point (AP) may be achieved by, for example, determining a transmission power metric for one or more Subscriber Stations (STAs) associated with the AP, modifying one or more data rates in the BSS Basic Rate Set for the AP based on the transmission power metric, and transmitting the modified BSS Basic Rate Set to the one or more STAs.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for improved interference management by Wi-Fi devices are disclosed. The interference management may be achieved by monitoring, by the Wi-Fi device, signaling energy on a communication channel in a frequency band associated with the Wi-Fi device, comparing the monitored signal energy with a known waveform signature corresponding to Long Term Evolution (LTE) operation, and identifying a presence of an LTE interferer on the communication channel in the frequency band associated with the Wi-Fi device based on the comparison.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for co-existence in unlicensed spectrum are disclosed. In one aspect, mitigating interference between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) sharing operating spectrum in an unlicensed band of radio frequencies may comprise, for example, determining an inter-RAT interference metric associated with base station narrowband signaling on the unlicensed band and modifying a transmission parameter relating to a transmission power or signaling scheme for narrowband signaling based on the determined inter-RAT interference metric. In accordance with the modified transmission parameter, a narrowband signal may be transmitted on the unlicensed band.
Abstract:
An apparatus, configured to communicate with other apparatuses in a wireless network and operating in a frequency-division duplexing mode, can be caused to refrain from transmitting during a number of subframes of a frame of a downlink frequency band prior to a detection of a radar transmission, can be caused to send a first signal, related to monitoring for the radar transmission, to a second apparatus, and can be caused to change the number of the subframes of the frame of the downlink frequency band in response to an event that can be an increase or a decrease in a load of the apparatus or the detection of the radar transmission. Optionally, placement of the subframes within the frame of the downlink frequency band can correspond to placement of subframes that are designated for an uplink communication within a frame configured in accordance with the Long-Term Evolution Time-Division Duplex standard.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for mitigating interference between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) sharing operating spectrum in an unlicensed band of radio frequencies. The mitigation may comprise, for example, identifying an upcoming signal transmission associated with a first RAT, with the signal transmission being scheduled for transmission on the shared operating spectrum during a transmission period. The signal transmission may be classified with respect to a protection status. Based on the protection status, a channel reservation message may be transmitted that is associated with a second RAT to reserve at least a portion of the shared operating spectrum for at least a portion of the transmission period.
Abstract:
An interference management scheme may detect a level of uncoordinated interference and compare a detected uncoordinated interference level against an intra-RAT (radio access technology) interference. Intra-RAT interference management algorithms or intra-RAT interference solutions are not triggered/applied if the uncoordinated interference is dominant. Alternatively, intra-RAT interference management algorithms may be triggered if co-channel intra-RAT interference is dominant.
