    Abstract: An apparatus of a Narrowband Internet-of-Things (NB-IoT) user equipment (UE) includes processing circuitry. To configure the NB-IoT UE for open loop transmit power control, the processing circuitry is to decode a narrowband system information block (NB-SIB) to obtain a narrowband physical random access channel (NPRACH) resource set and power control information associated with the NPRACH resource set. A random access channel (RACH) preamble is encoded for transmission with or without repetitions to a base station during a RACH procedure and using the NPRACH resource set. The transmission has transmission power based on the power control information. A narrowband uplink resource assignment received during the RACH procedure is decoded. A connection setup completion message is encoded for transmission to the base station using the narrowband uplink resource assignment.

    Abstract: Embodiments of efeMTC synchronization signals for enhanced cell search and enhanced system information acquisition are described. In some embodiments, an apparatus of a base station (BS) is configured to generate a length-x sequence for an efeMTC synchronization signal, the length-x sequence configured for repetition in frequency domain within 6 physical resource blocks (PRB). In some embodiments, to generate the length-x sequence, the BS may be configured to select any one index of the set of root indices {1, 2, . . . , 63}, excluding the root indices 25, 29 and 34, to correspond to a different physical-layer cell identity (PCID). In some embodiments, the BS may be configured to encode RRC signaling to include a System Information Block (SIB) comprising configuration information for transmission of the efeMTC synchronization signal, and transmit the length-x sequence as the efeMTC synchronization signal in frequency resources according to the SIB.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of measuring reference signals in a multefire scenario are described. A UE receives control information anchor channel dependent on whether the UE is in an adaptive frequency hopping system (FHS) and whether the FHS is a LBT FHS. The reference signals are received on an unlicensed band via the anchor and/or a non-anchor channel and measured for RRM and/or in-sync or out-of-sync measurements. RRM measurements are transmitted to the eNB for mobility management and otherwise the validity of an in- or out-of-sync indication is determined and a counter started when valid. The control information has a subframe configuration and resource allocation, which is used for SRS transmission on the non-anchor channel. Uplink scheduling information is received on the anchor channel for data transmission on the non-anchor channel based on the SRS.

The first circuitry may be operable to process a first Downlink Control Information (DCI) format 0A transmission indicating a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) activation. The first circuitry may also be operable to process a second DCI format 0A transmission indicating an SPS release. The second circuitry may be operable to generate one or more Uplink (UL) transmissions for an unlicensed spectrum of the wireless network after the SPS activation and before the SPS release in accordance with a configured schedule.
