Abstract: A method for detecting a moving target is disclosed that receives a plurality of images from at least one camera; receives a measurement of scale from one of a measurement device and a second camera; calculates the pose of the at least one camera over time based on the plurality of images and the measurement of scale; selects a reference image and an inspection image from the plurality of images of the at least one camera; and detects a moving target from the reference image and the inspection image based on the orientation of corresponding portions in the reference image and the inspection image relative to a location of an epipolar direction common to the reference image and the inspection image; and displays any detected moving target on a display. The measurement of scale can derived from a second camera or, for example, a wheel odometer. The method can also detect moving targets by combining the above epipolar method with a method based on changes in depth between the inspection image and the reference image and based on changes in flow between the inspection image and the reference image.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for performing a financial transaction at a transaction host are disclosed. The method includes the step of receiving, at the transaction host, a first set of information from an electronic portable device. The method further includes the step of identifying an associated account of a user using an identifier from the first set of information, determining loyalty points accrued in the identified associated account; a value proportional to the loyalty points is then subtracted from a first transaction amount to give a second transaction amount. The financial transaction worth the second transaction amount is completed using the payment instrument details derived from the first set of information. The method also includes automatically creating an account for the user using the identifier when the user doesn't have any past transaction associated with the transaction host.

Abstract: A visual odometry system and method for a fixed or known calibration of an arbitrary number of cameras in monocular configuration is provided. Images collected from each of the cameras in this distributed aperture system have negligible or absolutely no overlap. The relative pose and configuration of the cameras with respect to each other are assumed to be known and provide a means for determining the three-dimensional poses of all the cameras constrained in any given single camera pose. The cameras may be arranged in different configurations for different applications and are made suitable for mounting on a vehicle or person undergoing general motion. A complete parallel architecture is provided in conjunction with the implementation of the visual odometry method, so that real-time processing can be achieved on a multi-CPU system.
