Abstract: An electrical-connector-equipped flat cable includes a first flat cable including a first signal line and a first ground line, a first ferrule holding a first front end region, a second flat cable including a second signal line and a second ground line, a second ferrule holding a second front end region, and a shell disposed so as to surround the first ferrule and the second ferrule. The shell includes a frame body and a plate, the frame body being disposed outside the first ferrule and the second ferrule, the plate being disposed between the first ferrule and the second ferrule and electrically connected to the frame body. The plate includes a main body portion and a coupling portion electrically connected to each of the main body portion, the first ground line, and the second ground line.

Abstract: Connector assemblies for making connections to a subassembly, such as a processor card, may include signal contact tips formed of a material different than that of an associated cable conductor. The signal contact tips may be formed of a super elastic material, such as nickel titanium. The connector assembly may include ground contact tips that similarly make a pressure contact to the electrical component may be electrically connected to a shield of the cable shield Housing modules that interlock or interface with a support member may be employed to manufacture connectors with any desired quantity of signal and ground contact tips in any suitable number of columns and rows. Each module may terminate a cable and provide pressure mount connections between signal conductors and the shield of the cable and conductive pads on the subassembly, and conductive or lossy grounded structures around the conductive elements carrying signals through the module.

Abstract: Provided are terminal-free connectors for flexible interconnect circuits. A connector for connecting to a flexible interconnect circuit comprises a base comprising a housing chamber defined by at least a first side wall and a second side wall that are oppositely positioned about the base. A circuit clamp is coupled to the base via a first hinge, and is configured to move between a released position and a clamped position. A cover piece is coupled to the base via a second hinge, and is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. The circuit clamp is configured to secure the flexible interconnect circuit between the base and the circuit clamp in the clamped position. One or more protrusions on the circuit clamp are each configured to interface with a socket within the first or second side wall to secure the circuit clamp in the clamped position.

Abstract: A connector structure (1) includes a connector (100) and a flexible printed circuit (200). The connector (100) includes a connector body (110) having a terminal portion (116) and a positioning projection (120) configured to position the flexible printed circuit (200) relative to the connector body (110) so as to bring an electrode portion (222) into contact with the terminal portion (116) at a right position being set in advance. An insertion hole (210h) through which the positioning projection (120) is inserted is formed in the flexible printed circuit (200) at a position spaced from the electrode portion (222). As the positioning projection (120) is inserted gradually into the insertion hole (210h), the positioning projection (120) moves the flexible printed circuit (200) so that the flexible printed circuit (200) is aligned with the right position.

Abstract: A novel and useful system wiring apparatus and related techniques that address the need to feed power and electronic signals to and from a sample board between the cold, low pressure region in a vacuum chamber and outside room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The wiring apparatus balances electrical resistance with the thermal conductivity of the power and signal conductors. Printed flexible cables are used having an annular sealing region which together with O-rings provide vacuum sealing while allowing electrical signals to pass between integrated circuit(s) inside the vacuum chamber and equipment outside the chamber. A thermal anchor is placed along the printed flexible cable to maintain a desired temperature along the cable. The printed flexible circuits are multilayer with two outer layers serving as an RF shield while two inner layers comprise the signal lines which typically require shielding, electrical isolation from each other and from external electromagnetic fields.
