摘要: An instrument for performing electrical tests includes a housing adapted to be held in the hand. A conductive probe and a two-conductor power cable adapted to be connected to a vehicle battery protrude from the housing. Red and green light emitting diodes (LED's) mounted in the housing are operatively interconnected with the probe and power cable through circuitry which causes the red LED to glow when the probe contacts a positive voltage, and the green LED to glow when the probe contacts a low voltage, ground, or a negative voltage. Continuity testing may be performed by contacting the probe against one terminal of a device to be tested, and contacting the other terminal of the device to ground or to an auxiliary test lead extending from the housing, causing the green LED to glow. The instrument includes a momentary contact switch that permits the probe to be energized by internal connection to the positive or ground input terminal. Actuating the switch momentarily to energize the probe with a positive voltage causes the green LED to cease glowing and the red LED to glow if the test probe is in contact with a low resistance device, rather than directly to ground, thus providing means to determine whether ground or the supply terminal of a high-current load device has been probed.

摘要: A method and apparatus for continuously measuring and indicating the variations of the intensity of an electric signal, such as a signal to be recorded on a tape recorder, which provides measuring to take place at successive measuring periods in such a manner that a measured result is yielded representing the maximum value of the signal intensity. The signal intensity is measured during consecutive measuring periods and registered. The indicator has the ability to maintain the read-out of a maximum value, read during a measuring period, during a following hold period, whereby the measuring periods provided have a duration being an order of size less than the time of reaction of the human eye. The system stores the maximum intensity values being detected during each of a series of consecutive measuring periods, and provides hold periods having substantially longer durations by being an order of size longer than the time of reaction of the human eye. The indicating means is connected so as to provide indication of the largest of the intensity values being registered within the series of consecutive measuring periods during the hold period. Hereby, a display of the varying intensity of a signal as an observable display of peak values of the intensity is achieved.

摘要: An arrangement which displays an indication of the amplitude level of digital audio signals. The arrangement includes an acquisition means which receives digital audio signals and determines the peak amplitude value of the signals received between successive interrogations by a control means, and at least this value is indicated by a display means. If the currently indicated value exceeds the last determined value, then the indicated value is caused to decay at a predetermined rate.

摘要: A system for measuring and storing the amplitudes plus duration and/or rise times of overvoltage pulses occurring on a transmission line comprises a voltage divider working into a first and a second comparator respectively detecting an abnormal voltage exceeding a predetermined sensitivity threshold and discriminating among different amplitude levels above that threshold. The first comparator triggers an oscillator driving a pulse counter which measures the duration of an overvoltage pulse and also provides quantized information on rise time to the highest amplitude threshold surpassed by that pulse as determined by the second comparator. This information is stored in a memory with two groups of cells respectively assigned to combinations of amplitude with duration and combinations of amplitude with rise time, the occurrence of any such combination incrementing the contents of the respective cell. These cells are cyclically scannable and their contents can be selectively displayed on a visualizer such as an oscilloscope.

摘要: A digital multimeter having a tone generating circuitry and operable in a tone mode of operation for providing an audible indication when a measured electrical characteristic has a predetermined relationship with a reference value. The audible indication may be provided when a voltage level exceeds a preselectable limit, such as 1 or 2 volts. Predetermined limits for resistance values may also be selected for actuation of the audible tone. The device may be utilized as a conventional multimeter when the tone mode is non-operative.

摘要: Related multiple characteristics of a single complex waveform are displayed as a variable length line of light with a floating spot which moves relative to the line. Logic circuitry, in response to an electrical input signal, causes energization of a plurality of the light emitters in response to the first input signal characteristic and the energization or extinguishing of a single light emitter in response to a second characteristic of the input signal.

摘要: An audible voltage-impedance tester for generating distinct sounds when its test probes are connected across an unknown source, be it a resistive source, a DC voltage source, an AC voltage source or combination thereof. No switching is required between resistive testing and voltage testing nor between DC voltage testing and AC voltage testing. The tester is able to generate distinct sounds for different resistance values, for different DC voltage amplitudes, for different AC voltages with the same frequency but different amplitudes, and for AC voltages with different frequencies but the same amplitudes.A visual indicator of the audible sound is disclosed along with circuitry that utilizes a multi-vibrator whose powered operation by a battery is not affected by the unknown source.

摘要: For detecting faults on low voltage alternating current electric power distribution cables, recorders are provided, each triggered by a selected occurrence, e.g. a decrease in signal amplitude or a change in the waveform, to cease recording, after a short delay, of the waveform data in digital form, so that a store holds digital data enabling the waveform of the last few cycles covering the period before and after the selected occurrence. Using a voltage gradient technique analysis of the data enables the position of the fault to be located.

摘要: A fault indicator includes a reed relay disposed for responding to a magnetic field surrounding a conductor particularly when conducting above-normal current. The relay triggers a latch which enables a counter and starts a pulse generator which, in turn, drives a flasher, and the pulses are counted for resetting the device by resetting the latch after a number of pulses have been counted. The reed relay is disposed in a position for adjustment of alignment and misalignment in relation to the conductor.
