摘要: Disclosed are combination radio frequency identification (RFID) and electronic article surveillance (EAS) tags and methods of producing such tags. The claimed method is characterized by feeding a first plurality of first type inlays and a second plurality of second type inlays into a laminating machine, wherein each of the first and second type inlays are formed on first and second substrates, respectively; laminating the first type inlays to the second type inlays, thereby forming a plurality of pairs of the first and second type inlays, each of the pairs comprising an RFID inlay and an EAS inlay, wherein the RFID inlay and the EAS inlay of each pair are functionally independent.

摘要: Systems and methods to maintain inventory location data in an enterprise inventory management system, wherein the system includes a global inventory database subsystem for cataloging a plurality of inventory items, each of the inventory items identified in the database by at least a unique identification code and a physical location. The system, and related method, detects, using a motion detection subsystem, movement within a region between a first physical zone and a second physical zone; enables, in response to detecting movement, an RFID interrogator subsystem; identifies, utilizing the RF interrogator subsystem, any inventory items moving from the first physical zone to the second physical zone; and, reports, to the global inventory database subsystem, the identity of each identified inventory item, whereby the global inventory database system can update the physical location of each item from the first physical zone to the second physical zone.

摘要: Disclosed are combination radio frequency identification (RFID) and electronic article surveillance (EAS) tags and methods of producing such tags using a converting machine. The method is characterized by feeding a first roll carrying first type inlays and a second roll carrying second type inlays into a converting machine; and, transferring, using the converting machine, the first type inlays to a surface of the second type inlays, thereby forming a two-layer tape carrying pairs of first and second type inlays, each of the pairs comprising an RFID inlay and an EAS inlay, wherein there is no overlap of an RFID antenna element of each RFID inlay and an EAS antenna element of a paired EAS inlay, and wherein the RFID inlay and the EAS inlay of each pair are functionally independent.

摘要: A radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag, wherein an operational characteristic of the tag is susceptible to influence by a material comprising an object to which it is attached, comprising: a substrate comprising an attachment region and a flap region, the attachment region for coupling the RFID tag to a surface of an object; and, an RFID inlay formed on the substrate, comprising a loop antenna and a dipole antenna, the loop antenna and the dipole antenna each having first and second portions within the attachment and flap regions, respectively, wherein a relative portion of the loop antenna within the attachment region has a positive influence on the operational characteristic when attached to an object and a relative portion of the dipole antenna within the attachment region has a negative influence on the operational characteristic, whereby the net influence on the operational characteristic by the object can be minimized.

摘要: An enterprise inventory management system, and methods of use thereof, utilizing novel functionalities. The system includes a centralized global inventory database subsystem for cataloging a plurality of inventory items from a plurality of remote physical locations, each of the items identified by at least a unique identification code; and, a plurality of localized radio frequency identification (RFID) interrogator subsystems associated with a corresponding plurality of remote physical locations, wherein each of the localized RF interrogator subsystems is operative to read RFID tags associated with ones of the plurality of inventory items located at its associated physical location, wherein each of the RFID tags is programmed with at least a unique identification code for its associated item. Each of the localized RFID interrogator subsystems is operable to: first, receive, from the centralized global inventory database subsystem, a plurality of unique identification codes associated with a like plurality of items; second, scan the RFID tags of ones of the plurality of inventory items contained at its associated physical location; and, third, report, to the centralized global inventory database subsystem, whether any of the plurality of inventory items is present at its associated physical location.

摘要: System and method for simulating the operation of an enterprise inventory management system. The general method includes instantiating at least a first instance of a simulated RFID interrogator subsystem on a computing system; generating, by the simulated RFID interrogator subsystem, data representative of the simulated reading of RFID tags associated with virtual inventory items and reporting the data to a global inventory database subsystem; receiving, at the global inventory database subsystem, the data from the simulated RFID interrogator subsystem; generating one or more performance metrics for the global inventory database subsystem based on the receipt of the data from the simulated RFID interrogator subsystem; and, in response to the one or more performance metrics, altering the generation rate of the data by the first instance of the simulated RFID interrogator subsystem, or instantiating additional instances of the simulated RFID interrogator subsystem to generate additional data, until a performance metric of the global inventory database system reaches a predefined limit.
