    摘要: A mechanical tube expander having a construction which facilitates a machine setup prior to coil assembly without necessitating the machine operator to leave a control panel, this being due to all setup and locking features being accomplished from the control panel. Thus, an operator climbing on ladders to various and remote locations on the machine are not necessary. This feature is accomplished by orienting a pre-size clamp and a strip clamp on opposite sides of the stripper plate and tracking the position of the stripper plate relative to the receiver in order to enable the pre-size clamp to be correctly positioned and clamped to a piston rod driven upwardly by pressurized air. Any retraction of the piston rod will cause oil to be drawn into the upper end of the piston and cylinder assemblies so that at the bottommost stroke of the mechanical tube expander, a valve will be activated to block outflow of oil at the same time that the stripper clamp is clamped to allow bullets to be removed from the tubes in an assembly of fins, after the withdrawal of such bullets the stripper clamp is unclamped to allow the mechanical tube expander to return to a predetermined position to enable another operative sequence to take place.

    摘要: A forming apparatus for cutting and forming tubing, which apparatus has a tubing-advancing drive unit associated therewith for engaging the tubing and intermittently feeding it into the apparatus, and a coil stand positioned adjacent the apparatus for permitting elongate flexible tubing to be intermittently supplied thereto. The coil stand includes a frame mounting thereon a shaft, and a reel supported on the shaft and being rotatable about the axis thereof. The reel includes a pair of end flanges which confine a coil of tubing therebetween, which tubing as unwound from the reel is led therefrom into the forming apparatus wherein it is engaged by the drive unit thereof. A drive means is engageable with the reel to initiate rotation thereof in an unwinding direction to permit feeding of tubing from the reel to the apparatus, which drive means is automatically disengaged from the reel after a selected interval to permit continued free rotation of the reel in the unwinding direction.

    摘要: An elbow forming apparatus having a forming arbor with an exterior groove for accommodating a tube. A movable mandrel assembly, including a wiping member, is disposed opposite the arbor and has a further groove which cooperates with the arbor to confine the tube therebetween. An elongated rodlike mandrel is slidably inserted into the free end of the tube, after the latter has been fed into a position adjacent the arbor. The mandrel assembly is mounted on a first support structure which is rotatably supported on a second support structure, the latter being slidably supported on a third support structure which is rotatably supported on a frame for rotative movement. A cam-and-follower connects the mandrel assembly to the arbor so that, upon swinging movement of the third support structure, the mandrel assembly and the associated wiper is swingably moved around the arbor which causes a simultaneous and substantially linear retraction of the mandrel from the tube accompanied by a simultaneous bending of the tube about the arbor. The groove formed in the arbor preferably includes an intermediate straight portion joined between two bend portions, and the cam-and-follower maintains the mandrel assembly and the wiper closely adjacent the arbor during the swinging of the third support structure.

    摘要: A tube transfer device which includes a tube conveyor for transporting processed tubes from an entry location to an exit location thereon. The tube conveyor includes a plurality of first tube holders thereon which are adapted to hold the processed tubes so that axes thereof will extend parallel to one another and be laterally spaced apart a first distance from one another at the aforesaid entry location. A movable tube shuttle is provided for shifting processed tubes between a first position and a second position located adjacent the aforesaid entry location to the tube conveyor. The tube shuttle includes movable second tube holders adapted to receive the processed tubes when at the aforesaid first position and while maintaining a second distance between the processed tubes. The tube shuttle also includes structure for varying the lateral spacing between the processed tubes on the second tube holders from the second distance to the first distance and in response to a movement of the tube shuttle between the first position and the second position so that the processed tubes will be spaced at the first distance from one another when the tube shuttle is at the entry location to the tube conveyor. A device for transferring the tubes on the tube shuttle to the tube conveyor is provided.

    摘要: A sheet metal working apparatus having a supply mechanism adapted to supply an elongated and flat strip of sheet metal stock to an inlet of a punch press and along a longitudinal axis of the strip. An intermittently operable drive device is provided for effecting an intermittent movement of the strip of sheet metal stock relative to a punch press. A set of tools are provided on the punch press as well as a second intermittent drive device for effecting a metal working engagement of the tools with the sheet metal stock during intervals of time between the movement of the sheet metal stock to produce a continuous strip of a finished sheet metal fin stock. Guide structure on the apparatus guides the continuous finished sheet metal fin stock from an outlet of the punch press and effects a holding of the fin stock slidingly thereto until a predesignated length of fin stock has exited the punch press whereupon the fin stock becomes severed to a predefined length and an ejector mechanism forcibly moves the severed fin stock away from the guide structure toward a device for collecting a plurality of finite length segments of fin stock.

    摘要: An apparatus for producing, collecting and transporting platelike fins, including fin forming means for simultaneously forming plural fins in adjacent side-by-side relationship from sheet material. The forming means causes the fins to be discharged outwardly in the lengthwise direction thereof. Fin handling means are positioned adjacent the forming means for collecting and transporting the fins. The fin handling means includes an endless conveyor having a substantially straight upper reach positioned adjacent the forming means and movable substantially transverse to the direction of movement of the fins as discharged from the forming means.A plurality of elongated fin collectors are fixed to the endless conveyor, being spaced a predetermined distance apart throughout the lengthwise direction of the conveyor, said predetermined distance being equal to the centerline-to-centerline distance between adjacent fins as discharged from the forming means.     摘要: A device for sequentially stretched straightening a tube and bending same into a U-shape. The device includes a track for guiding a tube. A hold clamp is fixedly positioned on the track. A feed clamp is movably positioned on the track. A feed clamp is movably guided along the track between a first position adjacent the hold clamp and a second position at a stop mechanism. The stop mechanism is reciprocally shiftable along the track and is adapted to control the final increment of travel of the feed clamp during a movement thereof toward the second position. A tube cutting mechanism is oriented adjacent the hold clamp. A control activates the hold clamp to grip the tube while simultaneously effecting a movement of the feed clamp, when the clamping structure thereon is deactivated, away from the hold clamp toward the second position until it reaches the stop mechanism. Thereafter, the clamping mechanism on the feed clamp is activated to grip the tube and the feed clamp is moved to the second position thereof to cause the tube to be stretch straightened. The clamping mechanism on the feed clamp is deactivated following an arrival of the feed clamp at the second position to release the tension accumulated in the tube followed by a reactivation thereof and a deactivation of the clamping structure on the hold clamp.
