Abstract: A method for capturing images useful in a scanning system is provided. The present method comprises performing a preview scan of a picture and then displaying the preview image of the picture on a screen. Selecting a scanning area of the preview image and simultaneously performing a first normal scan of the picture from an initial scanning position relative to the picture. When the scanned area of the first normal scan corresponds to the selected scanning area, the scan image produced by the first normal scan is displayed. Otherwise, a second normal scan of a portion of the picture that corresponds to the selected scanning area is performed to produce a final scan image.

Abstract: A charge coupled device (CCD) with multi-focus lengths is provided. The arrays of optical sensors with a plurality of transparent plates in parallel disposed thereon are disposed on a substrate. By way of either of changing the thicknesses of the transparent plates and changing the position levels of the arrays of the optical sensors, each of the arrays of the optical sensors obtains a different focal length. And thus, the depth of focus of the present charge coupled device is improved.

Abstract: The present invention provides an optical sensor device for equally receiving light signals. The optical sensor device is composed of several optical sensor elements. The whole object of using the optical sensor elements to equally receive light signals depends on the formation of the optical sensor elements at an inclined plane on both sides of a substrate. Or, to make a central beaming pathway by equally increasing the height on both sides of the substrate.

Abstract: The image-capturing system comprises a image-capturing module and a plurality of mirrors, wherein the image-capturing module has a lens and a charge-coupled device (CCD). The image-capturing module is located on about the center in the image-capturing system, and a plurality of mirrors are arranged in the peripheral region within the image-capturing system to make the layout of optical path around the image-capturing module. Furthermore, reflectional angle of each mirror can be adjusted according to the requirement for design, so as to obtain the longest optical path.

Abstract: A utilization of a defective memory device in an image processing system is provided. The present invention provides three methods for utilizing the defective memory device to serve as an image data storage device. A first method is selecting at least a block of functional memory cells to store image data. A second method is using functional memory cells to store image data while skipping through defective memory cells in accordance with a mapping table of the defective memory cells and their positions in the memory array. A third method is using the defective memory device to store image data and then re-estimating image value of a pixel corresponding to each defective memory cell by an interpolation technique.
