Abstract: A display device apparatus provides an increased color reproduction rate and/or contrast ratio. Abstract: Provided is a backlight unit. The backlight unit includes a light source unit configured to emit light. A light guide plate is configured to receive the light emitted from the light source unit. A bottom chassis accommodates the light source unit and the light guide plate. The bottom chassis includes a bottom surface, a sidewall extending from the bottom surface, and an extension part extending from the sidewall. The extension part overlaps substantially an entire upper surface of the light source unit and at least a portion of an upper surface of the light guide plate. The extension part includes an upper surface and a light reflection surface disposed closer to the light guide plate than the upper surface. An uneven pattern is formed on the light reflection surface.

The optical member includes an interconnection layer, an optical pattern unit including first optical patterns on a surface of the interconnection layer, and first pattern shaping wires configured to receive a control voltage from the interconnection layer and to control a shape of each of the first optical patterns via the control voltage. Each of the first optical patterns is connected to a respective some of the first pattern shaping wires.
