Abstract:
Techniques for displaying navigation information on a mobile device are provided that include a method that includes obtaining an indication of a position and an indication of a direction associated with the mobile device, using the indication of the position, the indication of the direction, information regarding identities of POIs within a geographic region of interest, and information regarding areas associated with the POIs to determine at least one relevant POI, of the POIs, that is associated with the position and direction, and displaying at least one visual indication associated with each of the at least one relevant POI on the mobile device. The appearance of the at least one visual indication is dependent on at least one of a distance from the mobile device of the relevant POI associated with the visual indication or presence of a known physical barrier between the mobile device and that relevant POI.
Abstract:
Techniques for position estimation, e.g., of a mobile communication device, using trajectory are described herein. A method for estimating position of a mobile device described herein includes obtaining a routing graph corresponding to an area, wherein the routing graph indicates traversable paths through the area; collecting trajectory information corresponding to movement of the mobile device through the area; forming a trajectory graph from the trajectory information; comparing the trajectory graph to at least one subset of the routing graph to determine at least one matching subset of the routing graph; and estimating the position of the mobile device based at least in part on the at least one matching subset of the routing graph.
Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatuses and methods for enabling the use of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals indoors. The method may include determining a first indoor position of the mobile device based on indoor transceiver signals. The method may also include determining, based at least in part on the determined first indoor position, that global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning signals are available. The method may also include determining a second indoor position of the mobile device based, at least in part, on GNSS positioning signals.

Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for improving location estimation. The method receives LCI updates from an LCI disambiguation engine. The method determines that a trigger threshold is reached, wherein the trigger threshold is based on proximity to a poor location estimation region. The method requests enhanced assistance data, wherein the assistance data includes at least one AP associated with a second LCI that is different than a first LCI, the first LCI being associated with a present position of the apparatus. The method receives position updates from a Position Engine using the enhanced assistance data.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for image-based status determination are presented. In some embodiments, a method includes capturing at least one image of a moving path. At least one feature within the at least one image is analyzed and based on the analysis of the at least one feature, a direction of movement of the moving path is determined. In some embodiments, a method includes capturing an image of an inclined path. At least one feature within the image is analyzed and based on analysis of the at least one feature, a determination is made whether the image was captured from a top position relative to the inclined path or a bottom position relative to the inclined path.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for processing positioning data are provided. In an example, a method for processing positioning data associated with one or more access points includes choosing, for inclusion in the positioning data, one or both of: (1) ranging model parameters to enable a mobile device to compute first heatmap data for multiple points in a ranging region of a heatmap, or (2) second heatmap data for a plurality of points in a non-ranging region of the heatmap. The method can also include transmitting the positioning data, such as to a mobile device. The positioning data can also include both the ranging model parameters and the second heatmap data when the ranging region and the non-ranging region fully or partially overlap, in which case the second heatmap data provides correction data to enable the mobile device to modify the computed heatmap data in the area where the two regions overlap.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses of providing assistance data of a venue to a mobile device are disclosed. According to aspects of the present disclosure, one approach is to compute a visibility area that may satisfy positioning criteria for a venue, for example a mobile device may observe sufficient signals for positioning in the visibility area. Then, positioning assistance data may be generated that includes the information of signal characteristics in this visibility area. With this approach, the size of the positioning assistance data can be reduced and can be used more efficiently for positioning applications without losing useful information.
