    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for polar code sub-block interleaving and bit selection. In one novel aspect, middle-part interlaced sub-block interleaving is provided for polar code interleaving. In one embodiment, the middle part of the polar code is interlaced and generates the interleaved polar code. In another embodiment, the lower part and the upper part are also sub-block interleaved with the middle-part interlaced method. In another novel, rate-dependent unified bit selection is provided. The bit selection is categorized into three operation categories of repetition, puncturing and the shortening. Each category follows unified bit selection rule with different categories differ only in the access scheme. In one embodiment, the circular buffer is used for bit selection.

    Abstract: A method of new radio physical broadcast channel (NR-PBCH) bit mapping is proposed to improve for NR-PBCH decoding performance under Polar codes. NR-PBCH carries 32 information bits and 24 CRC bits. Specifically, NR-PBCH uses 512-bit Polar codes to carry total 56 data bits. Different Polar code bit channels have different channel reliability. As a general rule, the most reliable Polar code bit channels are used for the 56 data bits. In accordance with a novel aspect, within the 32 NR-PBCH information bits, some of the information bits that can be known to the decoders under certain conditions and therefore are placed at the least reliable Polar code bit positions. As a result, by mapping the NR-PBCH data bits properly at the input bit positions of Polar codes, the NR-PBCH decoding performance is improved when the known bits a priori can be exploited.

    Abstract: A method for performing polar decoding with aid of notation transformation and associated polar decoder are provided. The method includes: transforming input signals from a 2's complement notation to a signed magnitude notation to generate transformed input signals, wherein during the polar decoding, a plurality of first sub-operations and a plurality of second sub-operations are performed to generate decoding results of the transformed input signals; performing a first sign processing to generate a sign result of a first sub-operation within the plurality of first sub-operations; performing a first magnitude processing to generate a magnitude result of the first sub-operation within the plurality of first sub-operations; performing a second sign processing to generate a sign result of a second sub-operation within the plurality of second sub-operations; and performing a second magnitude processing to generate a magnitude result of the second sub-operation within the plurality of second sub-operations.

    Abstract: Examples pertaining to bit selection for polar coding incremental-redundancy hybrid automatic repeat request (IR-HARQ) are described. An apparatus (e.g., UE) generates a re-transmission polar code block (CB) in a polar incremental redundancy HARQ (IR-HARQ) procedure. The apparatus then transmits the re-transmission polar CB as a re-transmission of an initial transmission of an initial polar code carrying a plurality of information bits. In generating the re-transmission polar CB, the apparatus selects one or more re-transmission information bits from the plurality of information bits.
