Abstract: A curved compression element, such as a breast compression paddle, and imaging systems and methods for use with curved compression elements. A system may include a radiation source, a detector, and a curved compression element. Operations are performed that include receiving image data from the detector; accessing a correction map for the at least one compression paddle; correcting the image data based on the correction map to generate a corrected image data; and generating an image of the breast based on the corrected image data. The breast compression element generally has no sharp edges, but rather has smooth edges and transitions between surfaces. The breast compression paddle also includes a flexible material that spans a portion of a curved bottom surface of the breast compression paddle to define a gap. The flexible material may be a thin-film material such as a shrink wrap.

Abstract: A hybrid image based on different tissue specimen images is generated to compensate for blood and other fluids that interfere with imaging. Specimen is deposited into tray with fluid. X-ray and camera imaging devices acquire images of specimen and fluid. X-ray and optical images are processed for generation of hybrid image. Transparency modifications allow for multiple and different images to contribute to depiction of specimen edges or boundaries that would otherwise appear less clear in x-ray image due to interfering fluid. Transparency modifications in hybrid image also provide for sufficiently high transparency in certain optical image portions that would otherwise be opaque so that objects of interest depicted in x-ray image but not optical image are visible.

The first set of patient attributes may relate to, or be used to determine, for example, breast size, breast thickness, and/or three-dimensional (3D) breast shape. The first set of patient attributes may be used to customize image acquisition parameters for the patient. A second set of patient attributes may also be collected. The second set of patient attributes may relate to, or be used to determine, for example, breast elasticity and breast density. The second set of patient attributes may be used to customize breast compression parameters for the patient. The customized image acquisition parameters and breast compression parameters may then be used to perform one or more procedures (e.g., an imaging procedure, a biopsy procedure, etc.) on the patient's breast.

The output of the AI component may be used by healthcare professionals to inform healthcare decisions for patients. The output of the AI component and additional information relating to the healthcare decisions and healthcare paths may be provided as input to a decision analysis component. The decision analysis component may process the input and output an automated healthcare recommendation that may be used to further inform the healthcare decisions of the healthcare professionals. In some aspects, the output of the decision analysis component may be used to determine a priority or timeline for performing one or more actions relating to patient healthcare.
