    Abstract: Mechanically heated and cooled clothing with easy-to-use controls is provided. An embodiment comprises an athletic shoe with temperature controls and electrical wiring. A heating and cooling unit attached to the shoe comprises a thermostat, a cooling device, and a heating device. Temperature transfer means in the shoe, such as electrical heating elements and loops for liquid heat exchange, accomplish desired heating and cooling of the shoe. The temperature controls may comprise on, off, hot, and cold buttons for activating the heating and cooling unit and controlling the temperatures. The system may be attached to the shoe or attached to other items and worn elsewhere, such as to a belt worn about the user's waist. The system may also be used with other types of clothing, for example with gloves.

    Abstract: Embodiments provide for decoupling a module that assigns a SPAM confidence level from a module that executes actions within a message rule, and allowing a user the flexibility in assigning those actions. A rule execution module accesses an Anti-SPAM rule, which includes conditions and actions defined by a user. The rule execution module then scans the message to determine if the conditions are met and what actions should be executed. For example, a condition of the Anti-SPAM rule may be a threshold value, which is compared to the SPAM confidence level. If the SPAM confidence level exceeds the threshold the actions within the Anti-SPAM rule are executed.

    Abstract: An optically-triggered silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) (21) having a number of semiconductor layers (23, 24, 31) diffused into an N type substrate (22). Specifically, the SCR is formed by diffusing a first P+ layer (23) into an upper surface of the substrate. Then, an N+ layer (24) is diffused into a portion of an upper surface of the first P+ layer. An oxide layer (25) which is permeable to optical radiation is formed on the first P+ layer. A conductive cathode terminal (26) is then deposited on the N+ layer. Therefore, a trench (30) is etched in the lower surface of the substrate. The trench is defined by a depth and a surface. A second P+ layer (31) is diffused into the surface of the trench. The depth of the trench substantially defines a spacing between the first and second P+ layers. The chip is soldered onto a pedestal (33) formed on a lead frame (34). The solder is deposited in the trench and contacts the second P+ layer to form an anode terminal (36). The pedestal may be formed by either etching or stamping a depression (35) in the lead frame.
