    摘要: A system and method for delivering full-bandwidth sound to an audience in an audience space located in front of an acoustically reflective image screen such as a plasma, LCD, LED, or OLED screen. The sound delivery system provides for two separate and spatially displaced sound sources, namely, a high frequency loudspeaker for reproducing high frequency components of the sound associated with images displayed on the acoustically reflective image screen, and a separate low frequency loudspeaker for reproducing low frequency components of the image-associated sound. The high frequency loudspeaker or loudspeakers are positioned in front of the image screen to direct the high frequency components of the sound at the image screen where it is reflected back into the audience space, whereas the low frequency loudspeaker or loudspeakers are positioned at or about the acoustically reflective image screen and direct the low frequency components of the sound toward the audience space which are time-aligned with the high frequency components.

    摘要: A noise generator and method are provided for generating a test signal for measuring the performance of a loudspeaker over an operating broad band of frequencies ranging from low to high frequencies. A broadband random noise source is provided for generating broadband noise over the operating broad band of frequencies of the loudspeaker, and an impulsive noise source is additionally provided for generating random impulses of noise. The broadband noise and the randomly generated noise impulses are equalized to produce a composite noise signal having a desired crest factor as a function of frequency.

    摘要: A filter for correcting phase distortion produced at low frequencies in a loudspeaker system is created by inverting the phase response of the determined complex-valued frequency response of a loudspeaker system. The inverted phase response is obtained by taking the complex conjugate of the phase response. The impulse response for the inverted phase response is obtained by means of an inverse Fourier transform of the inverted phase response. The impulse response provides a linear phase FIR filter having a long filter length. The linear phase FIR filter is applied to the audio signal input to the loudspeaker system. Prior to inverting the phase response, the determined complex-valued frequency response of a loudspeaker system can be subjected to high frequency blanking and polynomial smoothing. Also, the linear phase FIR filter can be subjected to a window function prior to applying the filter to the audio signal.

    摘要: An acoustically absorptive panel comprises a forward airspace bounded by an acoustically transparent front fabric stretch-mounted on a support frame, and the front face of a porous acoustical absorber, the forward air space, the front fabric and the porous absorber collectively acting as acoustical absorbing chamber, wherein oppositely disposed end panels of the front fabric extend around opposing side frame members of one or more frame structures of the support frame and are connected to a pair of spaced apart retaining struts disposed between the side frame members, the distance between the retaining struts adjustable by rotating one or more threaded tension adjusters thereby stretching or relaxing the front fabric across the support frame to adjust the frequency at which sound absorption will be maximized.
