Abstract: Various methods, systems, and electronic devices include delivery of sequential subtitle images to a client device. To that end, a method includes obtaining a plurality of sequential subtitle images including a first sequential subtitle image and a second sequential subtitle image. The method includes generating a diff image by comparing the first sequential subtitle image against the second sequential subtitle image. The diff image includes content that is absent from the first sequential subtitle image and present in the second sequential subtitle image. The method includes sending, to the client device, the diff image and display metadata associated with the diff image. The metadata may include a temporal indicator that indicates a display time or display duration of the diff image, and may include a position indicator that indicates a display position of the diff image.

Abstract: Information bits may be superimposed onto a transmitted image while reducing or minimizing the effects of the superimposed information bits on the transmitted image signal's frequency spectrum or image quality. A placement of superimposed information bits onto pixels of an image signal to be transmitted may be determined by testing a placement functions to determine whether the spectrum and/or image quality of the image signal with the superimposed information bits placed according to a placement function meets system criteria. Successive placement functions may be tested until an acceptable placement function is found. The information bits may be superimposed onto complete pixels or the information bits may be superimposed onto one or more least significant bits (LSBs) of each of the selected pixels. A transmitter may transmit superimposition information associated with a transmitted image to a receiver. A receiver may use the superimposition information to extract the information bits.

Abstract: A device is described. The device includes a data interface connector, an application processor, and interface circuitry. The application processor can receive signals via an antenna. The interface circuitry can be coupled between the application processor and the data interface connector. The data interface circuitry can determine a change in a signal property of one of the signals, the change being caused by an impedance mismatch between the data interface connector and a media consumption device. The data interface circuitry can also send the application processor a signal property setting corresponding with the change. The application processor can adjust the signal property of a subsequent one of the signals, in response to the signal property setting from the interface circuitry, to obtain an adjusted signal. The application processor can also send the adjusted signal to the media consumption device.

Abstract: A method and a portable device controls output of a display unit to display information accurately and clearly regardless of a background image. Disclosed is an arrangement for calculating a difference between an arbitrary expression value of an arbitrary screen configuration element to be displayed on a given area of the background image and an actual expression value of the given area of the background image. Each expression value includes at least one of a color and lightness. The arrangement automatically selects the expression value of the screen configuration element based on the calculation result. The screen configuration element is displayed at the given area of the background image based on the selected arbitrary expression value.

Abstract: A method of determining a luma value from 4:4:4 RGB video data for encoding chroma downsampled 4:2:0 YCbCr video data into a bitstream. A location, in a colour space defined by linear luminance and non-linear 4:2:0 chroma values, is determined from the RGB video data. A region that contains the determined location is determined, the region being one region of a plurality of regions located in the colour space and having a plurality of associated coefficients. One or more of the coefficients associated with the determined region are selected, the selected coefficients being used to map the linear luminance and non-linear 4:2:0 chroma values to a luma value that compensates for a luminance shift introduced by chroma downsampling of the non-linear 4:2:0 chroma values. The method then determines the luma value for encoding into the bitstream according to a function of the selected coefficients and the determined location.

For example, a media server may receive a first video stream and first closed caption data associated with the first video stream. The media server may interpret at least one command included in the first closed caption data to generate interpreted closed caption data. The media server may transmit, to a destination device, a second video stream including second closed caption data that is generated based on the interpreted closed caption data.
