摘要: An apparatus comprises a dielectric material having a first surface and a second surface with a varying thickness between the first surface and the second surface. The first surface has a substantially hyperbolic curved shape with a single vertex, and the second surface has a substantially planar shape. The combination of the substantially hyperbolic curved shape and the dielectric material is chosen to compensate for different delays in electromagnetic waves impinging the first surface and traveling through the dielectric material such that the electromagnetic waves exiting the dielectric material through the second surface after traversing the dielectric material have a phase profile either constant or varying smoothly from the center to the edge.

摘要: A system designs a thin and relatively flat microwave focusing lens that can produce multiple simultaneous beams, using readily-available isotropic dielectric materials, and having a gradient-index (GRIN) profile. The design optimizes the lens to achieve beam scanning and/or multiple beams over a wide field of regard (FOR) with broad bandwidth and a very short focal length compared with conventional lenses. The lens can be used individually or as an element in a more complex antenna having multiple lenses in various orientations that are independently switched, selected and/or excited simultaneously as elements in a phased array. The antenna terminal incorporates such lens into an array of lenses along with one or more feeds to produce single or multiple beams covering a broad field of regard for such applications as satellite communications on-the-move, cellular, broadband point-point or point-multipoint and other terrestrial or satellite communications systems. The lens and array design support multiple simultaneous independently steerable beams as well as null placement for interference cancellation.

摘要: Multi-band phased array antennas include a backplane, a vertical array of low-band radiating elements that form a first antenna beam, first and second vertical arrays of high-band radiating elements that form respective second and third antenna beams and a vertical array of RF lenses. The first, second and third antenna beams point in different directions. A respective one of the second radiating elements and a respective one of the third radiating elements are positioned between the backplane and each RF lens, and at least some of the first radiating elements are positioned between the RF lenses.

摘要: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may be configured to include an array of lenses along with multiple antenna arrays that each include a set of antenna elements. The antenna arrays may each support multiple beam directions, such as a respective beam direction for each lens of the array of lenses. If beams for multiple antenna arrays concurrently pass through the same lens, the lens may contribute to maintaining separation between the beams. Lenses may also contribute to the shaping of beams, and the use of multiple lenses may enhance a coverage area for beams transmitted or received by the antenna arrays.

摘要: Aspects of the disclosure related to devices, wireless communication apparatuses, methods, and other aspects of passive multiple input multiple output. In some aspects, an apparatus is provided that includes a first radio frequency (RF) transmission line having a first terminated with a quarter wavelength grounded transmission line, and a first array of antennas including a plurality of antenna elements. The apparatus also includes a switch array including a corresponding switch for each antenna element of the plurality of antenna elements of the first array of antennas, to selectively connect each antenna element to the first RF transmission line, and path lengths selectable by the switches at half wavelength distances for passive transmission. The apparatus also includes or more lens elements configured to modify wireless inputs signals to the first array of antennas and to modify wireless output signals from the first array of antennas.

In an embodiment, there proposes a lens antenna system, comprising: a lens; a plurality of antenna sets attached to the lens; and a multiplexer connected to the plurality of antenna sets, for selectively activating an antenna set of the plurality of antenna sets, in order that a collimated beam is emitted through the lens from the activated antenna set. With embodiments herein, only one antenna is used to transmit a beamformed beam by lens with collimation capability, thus the embodiments may provide an alternative and more efficient way to replace beamforming functionality.

摘要: This application proposes multi-beam antenna systems using spherical lens with high isolation between antenna ports and compatible to 2×2, 4×4, 8×8 MIMO transceivers. Several compact multi-band multi-beam solutions (with wideband operation, 40%+, in each band) are achieved by creating dual-band radiators movable on the track around spherical lens and by placing of lower band radiators between spherical lenses. By using of secondary lens for high band radiators, coupling between low band and high band radiators is reduced. Beam tilt range and side lobe suppression are improved by special selection of phase shift and rotational angle of radiators. Resultantly, a wide beam tilt range (0-40 degree) is realized in proposed multi-beam antenna systems. Each beam can be individually tilted. Based on proposed single- and multi-lens antenna solutions, cell coverage improvements and stadium tribune coverage optimization are also achieved, together with interference reduction.

摘要: An antenna module includes a mounting board with a flat plate shape, and a power supply circuit to supply a radio frequency signal. The power supply circuit is mounted on the mounting board, and a radiating electrode is arranged on the power supply circuit. A dielectric fills a region around the power supply circuit and the radiating electrode. A conductive layer covers at least part of the dielectric. In the dielectric, a lens part is formed at a position overlapping the radiating electrode in plan view of the mounting board. The dielectric includes a first region in which the lens part is formed and a second region other than the first region, and the conductive layer is formed in the second region.
