Abstract: A light control device includes two light control units each having a light control sheet reversibly changeable between a transparent state and an opaque state, one light control sheet overlapping another light control sheet. The light control device has a state in which the light control sheets are simultaneously opaque, the light control sheet includes a transparent polymer layer having voids, and a liquid crystal composition including a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic dye. The voids being filled with the liquid crystal composition. An absorbance difference, which is a value obtained by subtracting an average absorbance of the liquid crystal composition from an absorbance of the light control sheets in the opaque state, is 0.4 or greater.

Abstract: A light control sheet includes: a laminate having a light control layer containing a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic dye; and a first protective layer and a second protective layer that are disposed to the laminate and absorb light in an absorption wavelength range including an ultraviolet region. The laminate in an opaque state has a chromaticity a* of −15 to 15 and a chromaticity b* of −16 to 15 in a CIE1976 (L*a*b*) color system in accordance with JIS-Z-8781-4. The smallest value of the absorption wavelength range is 360 nm or less, and the upper limit of the absorption wavelength range is 410 nm to 430 nm within the visible region. The protective layers have a chromaticity a* of −10 to 0 and a chromaticity b* of 0 to 15 in a CIE1976 (L*a*b*) color system in accordance with JIS-Z-8781-4.

Abstract: A display device includes a pixel layer disposed on a base substrate, a first inorganic insulating layer disposed on the pixel layer, a first switch electrode disposed on the first inorganic insulating layer, a liquid crystal layer disposed on the first inorganic insulating layer and the first switch electrode, a second inorganic insulating layer disposed on the liquid crystal layer, and a second switch electrode disposed on the second inorganic insulating layer to face the first switch electrode. The liquid crystal layer converts light emitted from the pixel layer into about 90 degree linearly polarized light by an electric field formed between the first switch electrode and the second switch electrode in the private mode.

Abstract: A liquid crystal composition includes a component A composed of one or more liquid crystals with negative dielectric anisotropy and a component B composed of one or more compounds selected from a general formula I, where the optical anisotropy of the liquid crystal composition is larger than 0.14. The elastic coefficient of a liquid crystal system is adjusted by introducing a bi-mesogenic compound into a negative liquid crystal or a negative liquid crystal mixture. When the liquid crystal composition is used for the dimming device, the minimum light transmittance of the dimming device in the dark state can be significantly reduced, the adjustment range of the light transmittance in the light state and the dark state can be expanded, and the haze in the dark state can be increased, thereby broadening the use range. Abstract: A wearable display system includes an eyepiece stack having a world side and a user side opposite the world side, wherein during use a user positioned on the user side views displayed images delivered by the system via the eyepiece stack which augment the user's view of the user's environment. The wearable display system also includes an angularly selective film arranged on the world side of the of the eyepiece stack. The angularly selective film includes a polarization adjusting film arranged between pair of linear polarizers. The linear polarizers and polarization adjusting film significantly reduces transmission of visible light incident on the angularly selective film at large angles of incidence without significantly reducing transmission of light incident on the angularly selective film at small angles of incidence.
