Preferably, the non-energetic fuze delay mixture is made of foamed celluloid.

摘要: An accurate, yet ultra low power fuse electronics is presented in which two methods are used to reduce power consumption in the fuze electronics. First, the fuze uses low power 3.3 volt logic chips ("LV" series or equivalent CMOS logic chips) along with switches that have low input capacitance and low quiescent current. Second, a circuit design is used which, while still accomplishing the objects of the invention, drastically reduces the number of electronic elements required. When a projectile is fired from a weapon, a fire control system transmits a signal to a data conditioner located on the projectile. The data conditioner demodulates and filters the signal, producing a burst time data word which is transmitted to a microcontroller. The data conditioner is comprised of passive components, therefore no supply power is required. The microcontroller decodes the data word and also uses the data word to correct any error in the high and low speed fuze oscillators. The microcontroller then converts the data word to a count down. At the end of count clown, the microcontroller transmits a signal to the detonator, thereby exploding the projectile. Power is supplied to the fuze electronics by a power conditioner's function which takes energy input from a fast rise piezoid and apportions it to the fuze electronics. The detonator utilizes a low power MOSFET or SCR switch and the power conditioner uses a low power CMOS DC/DC converter.

摘要: A fuze for an explosive projectile, particularly a submunition projectile (bomblet) which includes a first primary firing pin mounted in a housing for axial displacement in the longitudinal direction, and a detonation charge carried by a slide disposed in the housing, with the slide being mounted for displacement transverse to the longitudinal direction of said housing, and to its center longitudinal axis, between a safety position, wherein the detonation charge is not aligned with the firing pin, and an armed position, wherein the detonation charge is aligned with the firing pin. The slide is further provided with a self destruct arrangement, which includes an ignition element disposed adjacent an edge of the slide, to cause self destruction of at least said fuze after a given time delay following ignition of the ignition element. A second firing in is mounted laterally in the fuze housing at a position for causing ignition of the ignition element upon displacement of said slide into the armed position, with the second firing pin being a flat strip of sheet metal in the shape of a pointed wedge or triangle disposed in the displacement path of the slide.

摘要: A warhead having a longitudinal axis comprises a housing containing an explosive charge and an axially displaceable firing pin assembly. The latter has a hollow body, as well as an initial fuse, a final fuse and a pyrotechnical delay segment installed in the hollow body. An axially oriented point projects from the pin body, and a needle is affixed to the housing and is oriented axially in a direction toward the initial fuse. A first safety slide is radially displaceably held in the housing for blocking an axial motion of the firing pin assembly towards the needle, and a second safety slide is radially displaceably held in the housing for blocking an axial motion of the firing pin assembly in a direction away from the needle. A detonator is held in the second safety slide such that in one position of the second safety slide it is out of axial alignment with the point and in another position thereof it is in axial alignment with the point for allowing contact between the point and the detonator.

摘要: The invention relates to a munition system, which can be dropped from airft and is capable of scanning the ground for military targets; e.g., tanks and vehicles, and then directionally propelling a projectile at the target when it locates one. The munition system includes a housing, which contains an explosive warhead capable of directionally propelling a projectile, a directional sensing fuze in alignment with the path of the projectile, and a parachute to retard the descent and induce rotation of the housing at a predetermined rate, whereby the sensing fuze has sufficient time to scan the ground along a spiral path for military targets.
