Abstract: An improved safety actuator for an AK-47 firearm. The improved actuator utilizes a conventional receiver actuator modified to include a grip arm. The internal mechanism of the improved actuator and the conventional actuator are identical. This allows replacement of the conventional actuator with an improved actuator during field stripping, with no gun smithing. A grip arm depends from the receiver actuator, preferably from the receiver actuator's pivot point. The grip arm is aligned with the rifle's pistol grip. The shooter can control the safety actuator by squeezing the grip arm onto the pistol grip with his dominant hand. Thus, the safety may be moved from a safe position to a fire position without removing either hand from a sound firing position. The grip arm may be provided with a push bar to facilitate use of the dominant thumb to return the safety actuator to a safe position.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses, systems, methods, and machine readable media for activating a portable camera in response to the activity of a firearm, and for implementing and using a system for identifying an individual who discharged a firearm, and for recording, assessing, identifying, and transmitting information related to the firing of a firearm, and for monitoring the status of an implement at a mount, and for using a charging device for delivering electrical power to components of a firearm. A communications channel may be established between a firearm telematics sensor and a video camera, sometimes by means of intermediary devices. A communications channel may be established between a mount (e.g., holster) telematics device and local and/or remote monitoring service components, sometimes by means of intermediary devices. When the telematics sensor detects that its associated firearm is removed from its holster, or in motion, or being discharged, it may signal the camera to initiate recording. When the telematics device detects that its associated firearm is removed from its holster, the change in status can be reported to the local and/or remote system.

Abstract: A bracket for retaining a disassembled rifle preferably includes a retention bracket and a pair of retractable spring pins. The retention bracket includes a base plate, a first yoke, a second yoke, a first lug and a second lug. The two lugs and the two yokes extend upward from a top of the base plate. A width of the lug slot is sized to receive a lug projection of an upper receiver half of a rifle. The two retractable spring pins are retained in the first and second yokes. The first and second lug holes are sized to receive a spring pin of a lower receiver half of a rifle. A second embodiment of the rifle bracket includes a retention bracket with yokes that extend from a side of a base plate and two lugs that extend from an opposing side of the base plate.

Abstract: A rotational safety device for a firearm is provided that replaces a traditional cross bar safety device. The safety device is easier to operate and easier for a firearm user to assess whether the firearm can be fired than previous safety systems. The safety device of the present technology involves setting a safety to “fire” or to a no fire or “safety on” position by causing a safety member installed within a trigger mechanism to rotate about an axis. The safety device may include a recessed portion that may be rotationally positioned to face a trigger to allow the trigger to be completely depressed. The safety device may also include one or more locking positions in a range of rotation, physical limits on the range of rotation such as pins that engage surfaces of a firearm, and may be used with a variety devices to provide rotation.
