    摘要: Feedback control of combustion in a gas diesel dual-fuel engine (20), based on the measured cylinder pressure, has been invented. The center of combustion and pressure rise rate is controlled by manipulating the start of diesel injection and duration of diesel injection. Measurements of transient engine operation show, that the proposed controller is able to control the center of combustion and the maximum pressure rise rate. The influence of changing intake manifold pressure, changing exhaust gas recirculation rate and changing air-fuel ratio can be compensated by the controller (10). Steady state measurements show that the gas diesel dual fuel engine reaches efficiencies around 40% with stoichiometric air-fuel ratio and diesel ratios below 5%. The results have been obtained on a slightly modified production type common-rail diesel engine with four cylinders and a displacement volume of 2 liters.

    摘要: A carburetor may include a body having a main bore from which a fuel and air mixture is discharged for use by an engine, a throttle valve head, a choke valve head and a flow directing feature. The throttle valve head may be carried by the body and is moveable between an idle position and a wide open position to control at least some fluid flow through the main bore. The choke valve head may also be carried by the body and is moveable between a first position and a second position to at least in part control fluid flow through the main bore. And the flow directing feature associated with the choke valve head or the throttle valve head may alter at least one of the velocity or direction of at least a portion of the fluid that flows in the main bore.

    摘要: An air intake housing and flow enhancing plate for a carburetor with a fluted and contoured air intake opening that flushly aligns with and matches the shape of the carburetor air intake opening. The low profile plate is made of metal for durability and heat resistance. The centrally located air intake opening of the plate has a clover leaf or undulating shape that conforms to the shape of the carburetor air intake opening. The plate is secured directly over the top of the carburetor, and extends radially outward to provide a larger area for securing its fiberglass housing. The housing holds a conventional ring shaped air filter located around the carburetor air intake opening. The plate provides smooth transitions between surfaces to decrease turbulence and improve air flow.

    摘要: A method of operating a compression ignition engine, which includes at least one combustion chamber containing a piston, and a mechanically operated fuel injection pump apparatus. The method includes sensing the engine operating temperature with a first sensor, and providing input to a controller. The controller operates the fuel injection pump apparatus to deliver fuel to each of the combustion chambers according to a first timing regime when the engine operating temperature is above a threshold temperature, and according to a second, advanced timing, regime when the engine operating temperature is below the threshold temperature. The method further includes sensing the pressure in the combustion chambers with a second sensor. When the controller is operating the fuel injection pump apparatus according to the second timing regime and the combustion chamber pressure exceeds a desired pressure, the method includes changing operation from the second timing regime to the first timing regime.

When the adiabatic compression stroke is longer than or equal to CAth, IVC is advanced. Preferably, a torque variation is suppressed by controlling the ignition timing of each cylinder before IVC is advanced.
