摘要: A sound attenuating engine exhaust system and methods are provided for directing exhaust gases away from an internal combustion engine of a vehicle and attenuating undesirable exhaust sounds during engine operation. The sound attenuating engine exhaust system comprises an exhaust inlet configured to receive exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine. A first resonator coupled with the exhaust inlet is configured to dampen at least one frequency of exhaust sound waves by way of destructive wave interference. The first resonator includes an exhaust outlet for directing the exhaust gases out of the first resonator. A second resonator is coupled with the first resonator and configured to dampen one or more frequencies of exhaust sound waves by way of a combination of destructive wave interference and Helmholtz resonance. Hangers facilitate attaching the sound attenuating engine exhaust system to an undercarriage of the vehicle.

摘要: A vehicle comprising: an internal combustion engine having a cylinder and an exhaust manifold for collecting exhaust gases expelled from the cylinder; an exhaust system configured to channel exhaust gases along a flow path from the exhaust manifold to an exhaust outlet, the exhaust system comprising an exhaust component configured to cause an alteration to engine-generated sound pulses passing through the exhaust component; and a sound bypass device comprising a sound inlet port at a first location on the exhaust system before a first exhaust component along the flow path and a sound outlet port at a second location on the exhaust system after the first exhaust component along the flow path, the sound bypass device being configured to transmit engine-generated sound pulses from the sound inlet port to the sound outlet port whilst preventing flow of exhaust gases from the sound inlet port to the sound outlet port.

摘要: A noise abatement system for internal combustion engines comprising: a containment body (12) equipped with an inlet hole (6) for the entry of exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine, a plurality of expansion chambers (10) placed in sequence and separated by parallel dividing partitions (13), each equipped with a through-hole (4) for the passage of gases placing in fluid communication two neighboring expansion chambers (10); said expansion chambers (10) having two opposing through-holes (4), one as gas inlet and one as gas outlet. A rotating shaft (9) is integrated in a rotating turbine (1), along an axis comprising the center of gravity of the expansion chambers (10) up to an opposite end of the containment body (12), said rotating shaft (9) having placed around said axis and on said shaft (9) rotary fins (3) which open and close the through-holes (4) between expansion chambers (10) alternately and generating a swirling movement of the flow of gas entering each expansion chamber (10).

摘要: An exhaust manifold comprises a plurality of exhaust intake conduits structured to be fluidly coupled to an engine and receive exhaust gas from a corresponding cylinder of the engine. At least one exhaust intake conduit provides a reduction in an exhaust intake conduit cross-sectional area from an inlet to an outlet. A plurality of bends are each defined by a respective one of the exhaust intake conduit outlets. An exhaust intake manifold is fluidly coupled to the exhaust intake manifold and defines an exhaust intake manifold flow axis. Each of the plurality of bends is shaped so as to define an angle of approach of exhaust gas flowing therethrough. A first angle of approach of the first bend relative to the exhaust intake manifold flow axis is smaller than a second angle of approach of an inner second bend.

摘要: A sound suppressor for use in firearms, internal combustion engines, and numerous other sound-generating devices includes a structure having a plurality of ports, openings, or orifices which function as whistles and which suppress sound from a source of the sound using destructive interference. A combination of varying distances between components is configured for delaying the wave from one port or whistle to the next, so that the whistles are partially out of phase with respect to time, and placing the orifices of the whistles a certain distance apart to compensate for the remaining phase difference in order to create the desired destructive interference.

摘要: A timbre scaled internal combustion exhaust system includes: an inlet collector including a single entrance duct at a first end of the collector in fluid communication with an exhaust flow from an internal combustion engine and an exit duct at a second end of the collector; a plurality of non-perforated parallel tuning tubes in fluid communication with the plurality of exit ducts of the inlet collector, the plurality of tuning tubes having lengths and diameters selected based on a desired note of the timbre scaled exhaust system; an outlet collector including a plurality of entrance ducts in fluid communication with the at least first and second tuning tubes and a single exit duct in fluid communication with an outlet of the exhaust system. The inlet collector splits the exhaust flow through the plurality of tuning tubes to create individual notes, and wherein the outlet collector combines the split exhaust flow to create a desired sound of internal combustion engine exhaust.
