    摘要: An integrated process for the solution polymerization and subsequent halogenation of butyl rubber in a common medium is disclosed. The process comprises providing a solution polymerization reactor containing a C6 medium mixed with a monomer mixture comprising at least an isoolefin monomer and a multiolefin monomer in a mass ratio of monomer mixture to medium of from 61:39 to 80:20. Once polymerized, residual unreacted monomer mixture is separated from the rubber solution using a distillation process. The residual monomers may then be purified and recycled back into the reactor. The separated rubber solution is then halogenated. The process obviates the need for separating the rubber from the medium following polymerization, then re-dissolving it in another solvent for halogenation, thereby saving energy cost. The process optionally employs heat exchangers for the reactor feed streams to further reduce energy consumption.

    摘要: A conjugated diene rubber of the present invention is prepared from conjugated diene polymer chains, wherein the conjugated diene polymer chains each has an active end at one end and an isoprene block at least at the other end, the isoprene block contains 70 wt % or more isoprene monomer units, and the active ends of at least part of the conjugated diene polymer chains are modified with a compound having a >C═O group as a functional group. This provides (i) a tire that has an excellent strength, excellent low-heat buildup property, and excellent wet grip property and (ii) a rubber composition and a conjugated diene rubber that are suitably used to produce the tire.

    摘要: A process for making a substantially saturated dendritic hydrocarbon polymer. The process has the following steps: (a) polymerizing an amount of a first alkadiene monomer under anionic conditions in the presence of a first organic monolithium initiator to produce a linear polyalkadiene having a lithiated chain end; (b) reacting the linear polyalkadiene with an amount of a second organic monolithium initiator in the presence of tetramethylethylene diamine to form a multilithiated polyalkadiene; (c) reacting the multilithiated polyalkadiene with an amount of a second alkadiene monomer to form a branched polyalkadiene; (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) with the branched polyalkadiene one or more times to prepare a dendritic polyalkadiene; and (e) hydrogenating the dendritic polyalkadiene to form the substantially saturated dendritic hydrocarbon polymer.
