One aspect is a method for producing a multilayered silica glass body. The method involves producing a multilayered silica glass body in which a transparent silica glass layer is provided on the surface of a siliceous substrate made of a siliceous material. The method includes preparing the siliceous substrate, preparing a silica slurry in which silica particles are dispersed in a liquid, applying the silica slurry to the surface of the siliceous substrate, leveling the silica slurry applied to the surface of the siliceous substrate by applying vibration to the siliceous substrate, drying the leveled silica slurry, and vitrifying the dried silica slurry by heating to form a transparent silica glass layer. As a result, a transparent silica glass layer of uniform thickness is obtained at excellent yield, and a method for producing a multilayered silica glass body easily in a short time is provided.

Concrete may be melted to form a glass product. Methods and batch compositions including concrete may be used to produce amorphous silica materials including, but not limited to, glass, container glass, fiber glass, glass bead, glass spheres, sheet or plate glass, glass aggregate, glass sand, abrasives, proppants, foamed glass, and manufactured glass articles. The initial processing steps include preparing a melt batch comprising concrete and, optionally, other components, melting the melt batch, and cooling the melted melt batch. Further processing steps may be utilized to produce the glass article.

Apparatus and method for producing a reliable breaking line for the industrial cutting to length of glass sheets by means of a cutting wheel running on a float glass line under pressure imposed from above, with the following features: a) the location of the beginning of a breaking line is determined and a cutting wheel holder (20) with a cutting wheel (2) is brought into position, b) the cutting wheel holder (20) is lowered and the cutting wheel (2) is lowered onto the glass sheet (1) concerned with the desired pressing pressure, wherein the pressing pressure is set by means of a swing arm (3) and is monitored by means of a strain gauge (4) secured thereto, c) a change in the height of the glass sheet (1) prompts a control signal for an actuating motor (12) to be derived from the change in the resistance of the strain gauge (4), and the actuating motor brings about a corresponding change in the pressing pressure of the cutting wheel (2).

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a float glass containing a step of melting a glass raw material, a step of forming the glass melted by the preceding step into a glass ribbon while floating the glass on a molten metal, and a step of annealing the glass ribbon. In the forming step, a fluid containing a molecule having a fluorine atom is sprayed onto the glass ribbon to control a fluorine amount in the depth of up to 30 μm in the thickness direction from the upper surface of the glass ribbon to more than 0.23 mol %·μm.
