At least one device has at least one lining support and at least one lining that is mechanically attached to the at least one lining support. The brake rigging is provided with at least one lever extending from the service and/or parking brake to the device. The at least one lever is mechanically attached to the at least one lining support in an attachment zone of the lining support which lies opposite the at least one lining and which is located no more than 35 mm from a transverse central axis of the device.

    摘要: A railcar brake beam assembly including a brake beam formation having a tension member, a compression member and strut, and with the strut defining an axis for the brake beam assembly. First and second brake head assemblies are disposed to opposite lateral sides of the axis, with each brake head assembly being operably carried by the brake beam formation and includes a guide member extending in a direction away from the axis. The first and second brake head assemblies are generally centered laterally relative to the axis of the brake beam assembly. A distal end of the guide member on the first brake head assembly is disposed a different lateral distance from the axis of the brake beam assembly than is a distal end of the guide member on the second brake head assembly to minimize lateral shifting movements while maintaining adequate clearances for permitting reciprocal moments of the brake beam assembly during application of braking forces. A method of designing a brake beam assembly for a railcar is also disclosed.

At least one slot is defined in the strut body and receives and supports a brake lever extending non-parallel to the longitudinal axis. A compression member engager is connected to a distal end of the strut body and is configured to connect the strut body to a compression member of the brake beam assembly. A tension member engager is connected to the proximal end of the strut body and is configured to engage a tension member of the brake beam assembly. At least one fastener is configured to engage the compression member engager to fasten the compression member engager on the compression member. At least a portion of the strut body is rotatable about the longitudinal axis with respect to the compression member engager and the tension member engager to be oriented at opposing angles with respect to a horizontal plane extending through the longitudinal axis.

The sidewalls have inner surfaces and outer surfaces, and have a sidewall thickness between the inner surface and the outer surface thereof. The inner surfaces of the sidewalls and the inner surface of the base wall define an open ended trough configured to receive an end of the brake beam assembly. The brake beam wear liner also includes flanges extending outward from the sidewalls. The flanges have inner surfaces and outer surfaces, and have a flange thickness between the inner surfaces and the outer surfaces thereof. The base wall thickness is greater than the sidewall thickness.

    摘要: The brake shoe support assembly is able to track the lateral movement of a wheel, typically a wheel on an axle truck that allows lateral wheel movement. In operation, a flange of the wheel pushes on one side of the brake shoe support assembly, pushing it along a pin, and compressing a resilient biasing structure. As the wheel returns to a center or neutral position, the compressed resilient biasing structure expands pushing the brake shoe support assembly back to an original or neutral position. The resilient biasing structure also minimizes the lateral movement of the brake shoe support assembly down the wheel taper under normal braking loads thus preventing shoe ride-off. The resilient biasing structure may be enclosed in a housing adapted to prevent the intrusion of contaminants.

    摘要: A railroad freight car brake beam with a strut having a pair of generally parallel and joined side walls disposed to opposite sides of an axis of the strut and having a central hollow portion along with a longitudinally elongated slot adapted to be inclined a predetermined number of degrees from vertical for accommodating an elongated brake lever extending through the strut. Each side wall of the strut defines a bore opening to the hollow center portion and to an exterior of the strut. The bores defined by the strut are aligned relative to each other to accommodate at least a lengthwise portion of a brake lever pivot pin extending through the strut and serving to connect the brake lever to the strut. The aligned bores in the strut also define a pivot axis for the brake lever. The strut further includes a pair of bushings which journal the brake lever pivot pin. One bushing is accommodated in each bore defined by the strut. Cooperating instrumentalities inhibit inadvertent displacement of the brake pin bushings away from the axis of and relative to the strut thereby fixing the pivot axis of the brake lever relative to the strut.

Each wall of the strut defines a bore opening to a hollow center portion and to an exterior of the strut. The closed marginal edge of each strut bore arranged in juxtaposed relation relative to the end of the brake pin bushing disposed a farthest distance from the axis of the strut defines a plurality of radially spaced stops formed as an integral part of the strut for inhibiting inadvertent axial displacement of the bushings away from the longitudinal axis of and relative to the strut thereby fixing the pivot axis of said brake lever relative to the strut. A method of manufacturing a railroad freight car brake beam strut assembly is also disclosed.
