Abstract: A side airbag device for a motor vehicle includes an airbag, in which, in the event of an impact, gas is introduced by a gas generator of the side airbag device. The airbag includes drain valve for removing the gas immediately after the impact. The device also includes an electronic computing unit and a further drain valve and/or a further gas generator. A passenger of the motor vehicle is detected by a detection unit. The device is filled with the gas in the event of the impact to protect this passenger. The electronic computing unit is configured, depending on the detected passenger, to determine a gas pressure in the airbag by actuation of the further drain valve or the further gas generator before the impact and to adapt the gas pressure to the passengers during the impact.

Abstract: An airbag device includes an airbag having an exhaust hole and a flap member that can close off the exhaust hole. The flap member includes a flap main body and a coupling member. The leading end of the coupling member is coupled with an opening/closing control device. The flap main body closes off the exhaust hole from an inner peripheral face side of the airbag. A width on the base portion side is set to be greater than a width of the exhaust hole. Whole of the base portion side is joined to the peripheral edge of the exhaust hole in the airbag. The flap main body covers the exhaust hole in a region between straight lines that connect one end each of a joint region on the base portion and a region on the leading end to which the coupling member is caused to be coupled.

Abstract: An airbag device mounted on a steering wheel of a vehicle having a rim with a shape in which a distance from the center of rotation to an upper edge part is shorter than a distance to the left and right edge parts, including: a gas generator secured to the steering wheel and for generating expansion gas; and an airbag cushion that expands and deploys toward an occupant side by the expansion gas. The airbag cushion has a vent hole for exhausting the expansion gas. Furthermore, when an occupant comes into contact with the expanded and deployed airbag cushion, the airbag cushion deforms toward the front of the vehicle, and when a portion of an upper region of the airbag cushion advances more forward than the rim of the steering wheel, the vent hole is provided at a position that is blocked by contacting an automobile interior component.
