Abstract: A recording head filling liquid contains a specific moisturizing agent, a monovalent alkali, and water. The specific moisturizing agent is a compound represented by general formula (1) below. The specific moisturizing agent has a percentage content of at least 19.00% by mass and no greater than 42.00% by mass. The recording head filling liquid has a static surface tension at 25° C. of at least 20.0 mN/m and no greater than 29.0 mN/m. In general formula (1), a, b, and c each represent, independently of one another, an integer of at least 1 and a+b+c is at least 4 and no greater than 20.

Abstract: An inkjet printer includes an array of overlapping printheads. Each printhead having includes a first row of butting print chips connected to a first PCB and a parallel second row of butting print chips connected to a second PCB, the first and second rows of butting print chips having 180 degree rotational symmetry. A first printhead in the array is positioned in a first orientation relative to a media path and a neighboring second printhead in the array is positioned in an opposite second orientation relative to the media path. Data signals corresponding to a first color plane are distributed only via the first PCB of the first printhead and data signals corresponding to the first color plane are distributed only via the second PCB of the second printhead.

Abstract: A printer includes a line head, a transport unit, a head moving unit, a maintenance unit, a lid unit, and a rotation mechanism portion. The head moving unit moves the line head to a retreat position and a recording position along a B direction. The maintenance unit includes a cap portion configured to cover the nozzles, is formed with an opening, and is movable in a transport direction of a medium. A lid unit is rotatable about a rotation axis, and closes the opening in a closed posture. When the head moving unit moves the line head from the recording position to the retreat position, the rotation mechanism portion rotates the lid unit so that a posture of the lid unit becomes the closed posture.

Abstract: The inkjet recording apparatus includes a plurality of line heads each including a recording head, a plurality of waste ink collection containers, a display portion that indicates states of the line heads and the waste ink collection containers, and a control portion that detects the states of the line heads and the waste ink collection containers and controls display portion. In a case where an unused line head or an unused waste ink collection container exists and where a recording head in one of the line heads in use or one of the waste ink collection containers in use needs to be replaced, the control portion indicates, on the display portion, the recording head in the unused line head or the unused waste ink collection container as a recording head available for replacement or a waste ink collection container available for replacement.

Abstract: An image formation method includes: applying a white ink onto an image formation area of a non-absorbent recording medium; performing image formation with a color ink on the image formation area of the non-absorbent recording medium; and drying the white ink and the color ink. The white ink contains a white pigment, a first aqueous medium, and first binder resin particles containing a first resin. The color ink contains a color pigment, a second aqueous medium, and second binder resin particles containing a second resin. Both the first binder resin particles and the second binder resin particles include identical resin particles. The first resin and the second resin each have a glass transition temperature of at least 40° C. and no greater than 80° C.

Abstract: There is provided a printing apparatus including: a main control circuit; a sub-control circuit group connected to the main control circuit in series, the sub-control circuit group being configured to transfer image data from the main control circuit downstream; and a head group configured to be driven by the sub-control circuit group. The sub-control circuit group has at least two sub-control circuits including a second sub-control circuit and a first sub-control circuit connected to the second sub-control circuit at an upstream of the second sub-control circuit. The image data includes second image data and first image data. The main control circuit is configured to: transmit the second image data to the second sub-control circuit; and transmit the first image data to the first sub-control circuit after the transmitting of the second image data.

Abstract: An inkjet recording apparatus includes a conveying portion, a recording portion including a line head including a plurality of recording heads, a temperature detecting portion, a cooling mechanism, and a control portion. The cooling mechanism includes a storing portion that stores cooling liquid, a circulation path of the cooling liquid that is arranged to be branched into a plurality of branch paths passing near the recording heads, a heat dissipating portion that dissipates heat of the cooling liquid, and a pump that causes the cooling liquid to circulate. If there exists, among the recording heads, a recording head that is predicted to undergo a temperature rise, the control portion increases a flow amount or circulation time of the cooling liquid in whichever of the branch paths serves as a flow path of the cooling liquid flowing toward the recording head that is predicted to undergo a temperature rise.
