    Abstract: The first cutting insert is attached to a first pocket. The second cutting insert is attached to a second pocket. The third cutting insert is attached to a third pocket. The first pocket has a first seat surface, a second seat surface, a third seat surface, and a first swarf discharging groove. The second pocket has a fourth seat surface, a fifth seat surface, a sixth seat surface, and a second swarf discharging groove. The third pocket has a seventh seat surface, an eighth seat surface, a ninth seat surface, and a third swarf discharging groove. In a cross section perpendicular to an axis, an angle formed between a straight line along the sixth seat surface and a tangent of the second swarf discharging groove at a boundary between the outer circumferential surface and the second swarf discharging groove is more than 90°.

    Abstract: A cutting tool for metal cutting includes a tool body having an insert seat and a recess formed therein. The tool body further includes vibration damping means. The vibration damping means have a cantilever member, the cantilever member being adjacent to the recess of the tool body. The cantilever member has a cantilever beam and an end mass, wherein the cantilever member extends between a fixed end and a free end. The fixed end is permanently connected to the tool body. The cantilever beam extends from the fixed end and the end mass extends from the free end.

    Abstract: A slotting tool body includes a disc-like cutter portion and a shank portion projecting rearwardly therefrom. The cutter portion includes a resilient clamping portion having a peripherally disposed insert receiving slot. The shank portion includes a peripherally disposed forward shank recess that is axially adjacent the cutter portion. A radially inward portion of the insert receiving slot merges in the rearward direction with the forward shank recess. A cutting insert is releasably and resiliently clamped in the insert receiving slot to form a rotary slot cutting tool. The cutting insert includes two cutting portions that each include a long and short insert lateral extension, the long insert lateral extension being longer than the short insert lateral extension. The longest insert lateral extensions are orated on opposite sides of the cutting insert.
