Abstract: A rotary cutting tool has an insert receiving pocket with a cutting insert removably secured therein and an adjustment recess rearward thereof having a radially outward facing recess side surface and an adjustment tongue spaced apart therefrom by a first inner passage. The adjustment tongue extends rearwardly from a tongue root to a tongue tip and includes a tongue through bore. The tongue root has a shoulder surface facing in the forward direction and the cutting insert is in contact with the shoulder surface. An adjustment screw extends through the tongue through bore and engages the recess side surface, and rotation of the adjustment screw causes axial displacement of the cutting insert in a forward direction. An imaginary straight line in the first inner passage intersects a recess rear end surface formed on a first body sub-portion of the cutting body which is integrally formed with the adjustment tongue.

Abstract: A single-sided three-way indexable milling insert for feed milling operations, includes a positive basic shape, a rake surface, a peripheral surface including side abutment surfaces, a base bearing surface and a screw hole connecting the rake and base bearing surfaces. The insert has a cutting edge including exactly three main cutting sub-edges and three secondary cutting sub-edges. A material volume VF of the cutting insert and a void volume VS of the insert fulfill the condition VS/VF≥0.30.

Abstract: An indexable cutting insert has upper and lower surfaces with a peripheral surface extending therebetween and having four side surfaces alternating with four corner surfaces. The side and corner surfaces intersect the upper surface to form side and corner cutting edges, respectively. Each side cutting edge includes a primary cutting edge adjoining one of the corner cutting edges at a first endpoint and a secondary cutting edge adjoining another one of the corner cutting edges at a second endpoint. In a top view, the four primary cutting edges define an imaginary first square, each primary cutting edge is tangential to its adjoining corner cutting edge, and each secondary cutting edge is curved and entirely located in one of four imaginary quadrants. The insert is removably secured in a rotary cutting tool such that one of the secondary cutting edges contains the axially forwardmost point of the insert's upper peripheral edge.
