摘要: A casting furnace for manufacture of metal and/or ceramic components at high production rate is disclosed. The casting furnace comprises a melting chamber, a dual zone mold heating chamber and a dual zone mold cooling chamber. The melting chamber provides a source of molten alloy or ceramics with adequate superheat. The dual zone mold heating chamber includes an independently controlled primary heating zone and the secondary heating zone. The primary heating zone raises the mold temperature adequately to impart high gradient solidification conditions. The secondary heating zone assists the primary heating zone to minimize overheating of the majority of the mold. The dual zone mold cooling chamber comprises a primary cooling chamber and a secondary cooling chamber. The primary cooling chamber speeds up solidification in order to prevent defect formation and refine microstructure. The secondary cooling chamber slows down the cooling of castings to reduce residual stresses build up and minimize elemental segregation through augmenting solid-state diffusion of lower melting elements.

摘要: A method for obtaining a product made of titanium alloy or a titanium-aluminum intermetallic compound by plasma torch melting, the alloy having an oriented structure, the method including heating the molten alloy surface in a casting ring with a plasma torch; cooling a cold zone of the casting ring over a length L1, the cooling forming a semi-solid crown of alloy; heating a hot zone of the casting ring over a length L2, thereby forming a solidification front, the flatness of which relative to a plane perpendicular to a drawing direction is less than 10°; and drawing the solidified alloy at a speed of more than 10−4 m/s in the drawing direction. The present disclosure also relates to a plant having one or more devices for implementing the method.

摘要: Provided is a supergravity directional solidification melting furnace equipment, including a supergravity test chamber and, mounted in the supergravity test chamber, a high-temperature heating subsystem, a crucible, and an air-cooling system. The supergravity test chamber is mounted with a wiring electrode and a cooling air valve device. The high-temperature heating subsystem is fixed in the supergravity test chamber. The crucible and the air cooling system are provided in the high-temperature heating subsystem. The high-temperature heating subsystem includes upper, middle, and lower furnaces, a mullite insulating layer, upper and lower heating cavity outer bodies, upper and lower heating furnace pipes, and a crucible support base. A high-temperature heating cavity is divided into upper and lower parts, is provided therein with a spiral groove, and is fitted with a heating element. The crucible support base is provided therein with a vent pipe channel into which a cooling air is introduced. The crucible and the air cooling system include air inlet and exhaust pipes, a cooling base, a cooling rate adjustment ring, the crucible, and an exhaust cover.

摘要: This invention is concerned with the production of directionally solidified castings or ingots to eliminate casting defects such as macrosegregation and misoriented grain defects that occur in the blades for jet engines and industrial gas turbines. The mechanism of the occurrence of the above casting defects was clarified by the computer simulation system developed by this inventor, and it was found that, by strongly cooling the solid phase region and applying an axial static magnetic field, the heat pulses at the solidification interface due to convection of the liquid phase can be suppressed, and harmful lateral liquid flow in the solid-liquid coexisting phase can be suppressed by the synergistic effect of these two measures. This eliminates casting defects such as macrosegregation and misoriented grain defects, also refines the microstructure to produce high-quality products with excellent mechanical properties (creep strength). Regarding the strength of the static magnetic field, it was found that there is a range where the macrosegregation becomes minimum in a relatively low magnetic field range. This makes it possible to keep the required magnetic strength low, which significantly reduces the price of expensive superconducting coils. In addition, productivity can be improved by increasing the withdrawal speed.
