摘要: A patient turning apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a reconfigurable support platform comprising a plurality of laterally extending support slats configured for pivotal movement about a longitudinally extending central region of the platform. At least one support slat is configured to follow a pivotal movement of a longitudinally adjacent support slat about the central region, through at least a portion of a pivotal range of movement of the longitudinally adjacent support slat. The apparatus further comprises means operable to control pivotal movement of at least one support slat of the platform about the central region.

摘要: The present invention relates to the reduction of tissue interface pressure. The present invention provides a method to immerse an individual to a desired depth into a support surface. The method of the present invention maintains a desired level of immersion over time independent of the motion of the individual or changes in the position of the support surface or externally applied loads to the support surface, alone or in combination. The method of the present invention is an improvement to using an individual's weight or height or other sensor to determine inputs to an algorithm for immersing the individual to a certain depth into the surface. No pressure measurements or displacement measurements are required in accordance with the present invention, and the height and weight of the individual is not required.

摘要: An injury prevention system includes a plurality of pressure sensing assemblies configured to measure pressure exerted upon a plurality of subjects over time. Each of the pressure sensing assemblies in the plurality of pressure sensing assemblies includes a hardware controller and a pressure sensor array. The injury prevention system includes a management system including a plurality of system control units and a remote unit. The remote unit is remote from the plurality of system control units. Each of the hardware controllers are configured to transfer output signals from each of the pressure sensor arrays to one of the system control units. The remote unit is configured to communicate with the plurality of system control units to monitor the plurality of subjects for injury prevention.

摘要: A patient support apparatus pneumatic system may include a mattress defining an interior and a pneumatic enclosure in fluid communication with the interior and comprising an inlet and an outlet. A blower may be in fluid communication with the interior and the pneumatic enclosure. A pressure sensor may be configured to detect a pressure at the outlet. A controller may be configured to monitor a speed of the blower and the pressure at the outlet for detecting at least one of an intake blockage condition and an exhaust blockage condition.

摘要: Introduced here are methods, apparatuses, and systems for mitigating the contact pressure applied to a human body by the surface of an object, such as a chair, bed, or table. A pressure-mitigation apparatus can include a series of chambers whose pressure can be individually varied. When placed between a patient and a contact surface, a controller can vary the contact pressure on the human body by controllably inflating one or more chambers, deflating one or more chambers, or any combination thereof. By monitoring the pressure in each chamber over time, the controller can also gain an enhanced understanding of movement(s) performed by the human body when positioned on the pressure-mitigation apparatus.

摘要: Various other implementations include a device for rotating a patient. The device includes a bottom sheet and a top sheet. The bottom sheet is configured to abut a surface of a bed in use. An intermediate line of the bottom sheet extending from a head edge to a foot edge is disposed between its side edges. An intermediate line of the top sheet extending from the head edge to the foot edge is disposed between its side edges. The intermediate line of the top sheet is coupled to the intermediate line of the bottom sheet to couple the top sheet to the bottom sheet. The top sheet includes at least one first fastener coupled adjacent to its first edge and at least one second fastener coupled adjacent to its second edge. The at least one first fastener is couplable to the at least one second fastener.
