摘要: Systems and methods include a computer-implemented method for inspection. Removable sensors are installed on equipment used in hydrocarbon facilities at locations susceptible to high temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA). Attachment uses adaptable hybrid pads. Surface data captured using the sensors includes surface temperatures, per hydrogen (Ph) measurements, and methane measurements for methane escaping from external surfaces of the equipment. A presence of cracks in the equipment base metal is determined. An HTHA susceptibility analysis of the equipment is performed based on the presence of the cracks and by analyzing the surface data and mapping potential HTHA cracks and early signs of methane formation. The steps are repeated on other locations. An inspection result and assessment, generated using the captured surface data, includes a final analysis of assessment reports indicating a likelihood of cracks propagation and a presence of fissuring inside the equipment base metal.

摘要: Provided are methods and system for hydrocarbon exploration. The method may include using a downhole reconfigurable pipe inspection tool for electromagnetic logging. The method may also include using the electromagnetic pipe inspection tool for inspecting wellbore pipes. The tool may include at least two modules, a signal generator for exciting the transmitter coil; and a receiver circuitry for measuring voltage across the receiver coil, wherein at least one tool parameter is reconfigurable. The first module houses a transmitter coil, a first end, and a second opposing end, wherein the first and second ends each have a connector thereon. The second module houses a receiver coil, a first end, and a second opposing end, wherein the first and second ends of the second module each have a connector thereon.

摘要: A health monitoring system for an electrically-conductive tension member of an elevator system belt includes a transmitter including a transmitter coil configured for placement at the tension member, a receiver configured to be positioned at the tension member, and a controller operably connected to the transmitter and the receiver. The controller is configured to direct an alternating current through the transmitter coil resulting in the generation of a magnetic field and eddy currents at the transmitter coil, evaluate fluctuations in the magnetic field detected at the receiver. The fluctuations are indicative of wear or damage to the tension member.

摘要: A drive coil assembly to generate a specific spatial distribution of eddy currents within the walls of a conductive tube or pipe, which may be used in conjunction with a separate array of magnetic sensors to detect defects in the tubing wall. The drive coil assembly comprises a plurality of coils which are generally wrapped around the circumference of a cylindrical probe body, but which are further shaped with serpentine undulation in the axial direction. The undulation is characterized by a spatial amplitude, a spatial phase and a spatial frequency; typically, the spatial frequency results in an integer number of undulations around the circumference of the drive coil and the phase is chosen to uniformly distribute the lobes about the circumference. The temporal phase of the electrical current in each coil is chosen to null out net current of the assembly around the circumference.

摘要: We disclose a scale thickness measuring method of measuring a thickness of scale attached to an outer peripheral surface of a heat transfer pipe having a cylindrical shape centered on an axis by using an eddy-current probe, which is provided with an excitation coil generating an eddy current, and a pair of detection coils detecting axial and circumferential components of a magnetic field formed by the eddy current, the scale thickness measuring method including: obtaining a reference point in a region to which the scale is not attached by calculating a difference between the axial and circumferential components of the magnetic field detected by the pair of detection coils; moving the eddy-current probe inside the heat transfer pipe in the direction of the axis while inserting the eddy-current probe into the heat transfer pipe; calculating the difference between the axial and circumferential components of the magnetic field; obtaining a drift amount by comparing the difference with the reference point; and calculating the thickness of the scale from a calibration curve obtained in advance on the basis of the drift amount.

摘要: Examples of the present subject matter provide techniques for gathering inspection data (e.g., c-scan) from a plurality of probes, such as ECA probes. Each probe may generate inspection data obtained from different in-plane probe orientations on a surface, such as providing indications from disturbances or flaws located in different in-plane directions relative to a probe sensitivity axis. The inspection data may then be combined while indications at different orientations may be preserved and then merged to generate a composite. Pattern recognition using templates defining flaws or abnormalities may then be performed to determine the type of indication, e.g., detrimental flaw or non-detrimental abnormality.
