    摘要: A hermetically sealed tank gauge apparatus which continuously monitors the fluid level in a closed crude oil tank. A sensor device measures the liquid level in the tank. The sensor device communicates with the interior of the tank, and is isolated from ambient, so that no dangerous gases can escape from the tank, through the tank gauge apparatus, and into the surrounding atmosphere. The sensor device is arranged to continuously drive a recorder apparatus in response to change in liquid level thereof so that the quantity of fluid flowing into and out of the tank over a long interval of time can be ascertained. The sensor device and the recorder are tamper proof and enable accurate records of tank contents to be recorded.

    摘要: A device for electric monitoring of the level of a liquid present in a container, with a temperature-dependent resistance probe which is immersed in the liquid the level of which is to be monitored, a source of constant current connectable, controlled by a timer, to the resistance probe, a circuit, controlled by the timer, for detecting and storing an initial voltage drop on the resistance probe at an initial time and a measurement voltage at a defined time after the connection of the source of constant current, and a circuit for evaluating these voltages by subtraction of the measurement voltage from the initial voltage and if necessary under circumstances inversion of the difference in order to form a display voltage which corresponds to the level. There are provided a resistance probe structure for compensating for the influence of the change in level of the liquid on the display voltage due to thermal expansion as a function of its initial temperature and a computation circuit for compensating for different heat transfers from the resistance probe to the liquid as a function of the initial temperature.

    摘要: A fluid level detector comprising a cylindrical member which includes a mounting portion fitting in the opening of a fluid reservoir and a float guide portion extending downwardly from the mounting portion. A float, provided with a magnet, is slidably fitted over the float guide portion. A lead switch is disposed in the float guide portion. A terminal is connected to the lead switch via a lead 18. A lid member is mounted to close the opening of the reservoir. A terminal holder is integrally formed on the cylindrical member. The lid member includes an upper cover covering the upper portions of the mounting portion and the cylindrical member, and a lower cover. In assembly, after interposing the terminal holder between the upper and lower covers, the cylindrical member and the lid member are mounted to the reservoir as a unit.

    摘要: An oil level indicator for use on a motor vehicle having a tube open at the vehicle oil pan. An elongated stiff oil gauging wire is slidably mounted in the tube. The wire carries a float at its lower end and extends at its upper end into a stationary housing mounted on the vehicle. The housing pivotally mounts a lever connected to a stiff wire and to the slidable contactor of a variable resistance member in the housing. The variable resistance member is connected to a battery and to a guage mounted at the dashboard of the motor vehicle to indicate the oil level in the oil pan.

    摘要: Apparatus for indicating the level of the electrolyte in a battery cell. A three-electrode sensor probe having the electrodes partially embedded in an electrically insulating housing suspended in the electrolyte so that a portion of the probe is immersed in the electrolyte. The electrolyte provides the only conduction path between the electrodes so that the resistance between the electrodes varies according to the level of the electrolyte. An AC or pulsed DC sensing signal is applied between two of the electrodes and an output signal related to the level of the electrolyte is produced. A polarizing current is applied to the other electrode to prevent the buildup of surface contamination on the two sensing electrodes due to the sensing signal.

    摘要: A device for braking the motion of the float of a float type liquid-level gauge used with a liquid container, comprising a casing, a vane member disposed in the casing in such a manner as to produce a motion relative to the casing, a fluid placed to fill the inner space of the casing now containing the vane member and retaining an extra space for permitting the relative motion of the vane member, and a path formed in the casing to permit flow of the fluid inside the inner space of the casing during the aforementioned relative motion of the vane member inside the casing. In actual use, the casing is fixed in position and the vane member is connected with a member adapted to move in conjunction with the float of the float type liquid-level gauge. When a sudden, momentary displacement occurs in the liquid level in the liquid container with which the liquid-level gauge is used, the float kept on the liquid surface by buoyant force tends to follow the displacement. Since the float is connected with the vane member, any motion of the float in excess of a prescribed level is braked by the resistance offered by the fluid during its flow through the path in the casing. Thus, otherwise possible erroneous detection of the liquid level by the liquid-level gauge is prevented.

    摘要: An alarm for signalling the rise of water above a preselected flood indicative danger level. In a preferred embodiment, the alarm is connected across the terminals of the smoke sensing unit of a commercial smoke detecting and signalling device. The alarm includes a pair of elongated conducting wires extending from the smoke sensor terminals to a remote area at which it is desirable to sense a rise in water above the preselected danger level. The ends of the wires at the remote area are fixedly attached to a non-conductive head element so as to provide a separation space between the wires. A rise in the water level to the preselected level serves to bridge the space separating the ends of the wires, closes the circuit and activates the warning signal. In a preferred, alternate embodiment, the wires fixedly attached, in spaced relation, to the wire separating head element, are connected in series with a power supply and a signal. The signal is activated at such times that a rise in the water level bridges the separation space and closes the circuit. In either embodiment, a skirt may surround the head element to prevent the signal from being activated by downwardly running water.
