摘要:
Cradle apparatus for mounting an automatic cannon to an elevationally rotatable plate positioned at an exterior region of a weapons system turret or cupola includes an elongate, rigid, box-like cradle and first, second and third universal ball connections, arranged in a generally triangular configuration, for mounting the cradle to the rotatable plate. Each of the connections includes cradle portions fixed to the cradle and plate portions fixed to the plate. The first, uppermost connection includes means for releasably latching together the cradle and plate portions thereof; whereas, the second and third, lower connections define a cradle hinge line about which the cradle is pivotable between open and closed conditions relative to the plate when the first connection cradle and plate portions are unlatched. Means are provided in the cradle for mounting an automatic cannon in a manner enabling ready access to receiver portions thereof when the cradle is in the open condition. The three cradle connections are configured to enable both azimuth and elevational bore sight adjustment of a cannon mounted in the cradle by adjusting the position of the closed cradle relative to the plate. Mechanical assist means are provided for controlling pivotal movement of the cradle between the open and closed positions.

A manual drive system for a turret includes a manually operated drive train for traversing the turret including two synchronizing bevel gears and two spur gears selectively engaged to transfer torque to a horizontal ring gear for rotating the turret and selectively disengaged to back drive a worm gear with respect to a lock worm that locks the turret in a predetermined traverse position.

A stabilizing and aiming drive for the turret (2) of a vehicle (1) comprises brake surfaces at revolving rings (6,7) which are supported for rotation at the vehicle superstructure or at the turret. The revolving rings (6,7) are driven in opposite directions by an electric motor (20) acting through driven pinions (23,24), and they carry brake surfaces (10,11). These brake surfaces face the friction linings (12,13) which are adapted to be acted upon by magnetic structural units (16,17) provided at the turret or vehicle superstructure for engagement with the brake surfaces, in order to thereby apply controlled stabilizing and aiming moments on the turret.

The military equipment comprises a turret mounted for rotation about a vertical axis and supporting, by means of a swivelling device with horizontal axis, a main heavy gun totally external to the turret, having its own shield and situated approximately in a plane passing through the axis of rotation of the turret. The swivelling device comprises two lateral supports surrounding the gun and supporting the latter via bearings so as to define an elevation axis situated behind the rotational axis of the turret. One of the supports and the shield of the gun have oppositely situated openings for forming a protected channel for a gun loading system supplying the gun with rounds of ammunition from inside the turret. The feed system constitutes a unitary assembly. It has a frame secured in the gun shield on which a carriage is transversely movable between a position where an ammunition craddle supported by the carriage is aligned with a weapon and a position lateral to the weapon. The loading craddle is movable between a rear position for transport by the carriage and a front position accessible from inside the turret for placing a piece of ammunition therein.

A gun mount for light automatic weapons, comprising an upper mount having cradle means for the detachable attachment of the weapon thereto and a lower mount having a circular track and being adapted to be attached to a vehicle in such a manner that the upper mount is rotated about the vertical axis of the circular track. The cradle is pivotable about a horizontal weapon traverse axis. Aiming means comprising a rigid periscope having fixed reflecting mirrors is provided with its eyepiece located below the circular track and whose sight radius is coupled with the traverse motion of the weapon about the weapon traverse axis. The aiming means is about a sight axis which is parallel to the horizontal weapon traverse axis and is attached to a blinder having surface areas which are rotationally symmetrical to the sight axis. A connecting rod is provided having one end pivotable about a first traverse axle parallel to the sight axis and is rigidly connected to the blinder and the other end of the connecting rod is articulated about a second traverse axle on said cradle. The sight axis, the weaspon traverse axis, the first traverse axle and the second traverse axle form the corners of a parallelogram.
