    Abstract: A portable heater can include a housing including a base and an enclosure and a burner assembly disposed within the enclosure, the burner assembly including a heating surface, wherein the enclosure and the heating surface are rotatable, with respect to the base, between a first rotational position and a second rotational position. In some examples, the heating surface is a curved surface. In some examples, a tilt switch is provided that has a position that is independent of the rotational position of the enclosure. The portable heater can also include temperature control features for maintaining fuel tank temperature at an improved operating condition.

    Abstract: An inward-firing combustion burner, includes a burner casing configured to receive a fuel-air mixture at a burner inlet and to provide hot combustion gas at a burner output, a combustion substrate disposed within the burner casing, the substrate having a shape comprising at least a semi-cone or a flat surface, having a substrate porosity defined by a plurality of pores, and having a substrate inner surface and a substrate outer surface, the substrate configured to receive the fuel-air mixture at the outer surface of the substrate, the fuel-air mixture passing through the pores at a mixture flow rate from the substrate outer surface toward the substrate inner surface, and the burner configured such that, in operation, the fuel-air mixture ignites near the plurality of pores to form a respective plurality of flamelets, each flamelet corresponding to one of the pores.

    Abstract: A gas premix burner and a gas water heater. The gas premix burner has a combustion direction, the gas premix burner can be matched and connected with a premix chamber that is disposed upstream the combustion direction of the gas premix burner, gas and air can be burned by the gas premix burner after mixed in the premix chamber; the gas premix burner comprising: a burner substrate, a main combustion hole provided on the burner substrate; an auxiliary combustion hole disposed downstream the main combustion hole along the combustion direction on the burner substrate; an auxiliary flame of the auxiliary combustion hole intersects a main flame of the main combustion hole. The present application provides the main combustion hole upstream the auxiliary combustion hole along the combustion direction, since the main flame is usually larger in scale than the auxiliary flame, by providing the main flame upstream the auxiliary flame, it will be easier for the auxiliary flame and the main flame to intersect each other, and then the effect of stabilizing the flame is realized by opposed flames formed by the auxiliary flame and the main flame.

    Abstract: A porous surface radiant burner assembly provided with a porous burner substrate having a surface including a layer of zircon and an overlying layer of zirconia formed in situ upon exposing the zircon layer to radiant burner operating conditions. The porous surface burner substrate can be in the form of a mat of randomly oriented fibers coated with zircon, a solid parted plate of zircon or a different ceramic provided with a coating layer of zircon, or a reticulated foam comprising either zircon or a different ceramic material coated with zircon. Preferably in the method of making the porous burner substrate, the zircon layer is merely exposed to the intended operating conditions of the radiant burner wherein during the initial degradation of the zircon layer, a continuous, adherent layer of zirconia is formed in overlying relationship to the layer of zircon to resist further degradation.

    Abstract: A gas heating apparatus has a cylindrical outer shell disposed along a duct in which a gas to be heated flows. A pre-mixture gas supply tube is connected to the outer shell. A combustion unit including a sintered fiber mat is provided inside the outer shell with a spacing being provided between outer shell and the sintered fiber mat. The combustion unit burns the pre-mixture gas on an inner surface of the sintered fiber mat. A diffusion burner is preferably provided upstream of the outer shell and of the combustion unit to increase the heating effect. With these constructions, it is possible to obtain a smaller-sized heating apparatus which produces a higher output.
