Abstract: A pump includes a liquid housing having a liquid chamber with a piston/diaphragm assembly arranged therein that responds to a suction stroke and draws liquid into the liquid chamber, and responds to a pressure stroke and provides liquid from the liquid chamber; and a gas housing having a slide valve assembly separating first and second gas chambers. The slide valve assembly responds to a suction-to-pressure-force at the suction stroke conclusion, changes from a suction-to-pressure stroke state, provides gas from the first to second gas chamber through the slide valve assembly, and provides the pressure stroke so liquid passes from the liquid chamber; and responds to a pressure-to-suction-force at the pressure stroke conclusion, changes from the pressure-to-suction stroke state, provides gas from the second chamber through the slide valve assembly, and provides the suction stroke so liquid is drawn into the liquid chamber.

Abstract: An apparatus for pumping a fluid from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: a spool axially movable within a cavity, wherein a first chamber is located at a first axial end of the cavity and a second chamber is located at a second axial end of the cavity, wherein the volume of the first chamber and the second chamber varies depending upon the axial position of the spool within the cavity; a valve movable between a first position and a second position, wherein in the first position the valve is configured to convey fluid from the fluid inlet to the first chamber and from the second chamber to the fluid outlet, and in the second position the valve is configured to convey fluid from the fluid inlet to the second chamber and from the first chamber to the fluid outlet.

Abstract: An apparatus employing pressure transients for transporting fluids from a first reservoir to a second reservoir, includes at least one partly enclosed space and a body. The body is movable relative to the interior of the space. The apparatus also includes at least one first conduit and at least one second conduit in fluid communication with the opening via a third conduit, and connected to the first and second reservoir, respectively. An opening in the enclosed space allows a fluid to flow alternately in the direction into and out of the space and which opening is connected to a third conduit. At least one solid object is arranged to fall onto and collide with the body so as to generate pressure transients in the space to produce a flow of fluid in the direction from the space towards the second reservoir, and to produce a flow of fluid in the direction from the first reservoir towards the space.

The efficiency valve system is to prevent overfilling of the air chambers.

Abstract: A pneumatically driven pump includes a piston threadably connected to each end of a common connecting hollow rod which is inserted over a pumped material receiving tube, with this assembly enclosed in a housing. The pistons reciprocate in response to compressed air sequentially directed through different air ports in the housing, alternatively drawing in pumped material and then pumping it out of the pump through the pumped material tube along the center of the pump. A check valve at each of the inflow and outflow ends of the pump prevents back flow of the pumped material.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are shown for controlling tank vapors on a petroleum storage tank of the type having a tank vapor line which leads from the storage tank for transporting relatively low pressure gas vapor to a relatively higher pressure gas sales line. An intensifier piston is installed in the tank vapor line between the storage tank and the gas sales line. The intensifier piston is operated to increase the pressure of the gas vapor exiting the petroleum storage tank to a higher relative discharge pressure, whereby the higher pressure discharge gas can be passed directly to the gas sales line.

Abstract: A reversing mechanism for a reciprocating pump provided in a common housing or module removably secured to the pump body adjacent to the pump shaft. The module housing includes top and bottom pieces which slide together with suitable tongue and groove elements. The top piece houses a reversing valve, and has a slot on the underside thereof for receiving a yoke member of the reversing mechanism. The sides of the slot form bearing surfaces parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pump shaft. The yoke slides or reciprocates on these bearing surfaces. The bottom piece comprises a support for opposed snap-acting springs. The yoke has a pair of upwardly extending spaced arms for actuating opposite ends of the reversing valve when it reciprocates, and a pair of downwardly extending spaced arms for engaging a transverse pin in the pump shaft as the shaft reciprocates. A central pin in the yoke couples it to the snap-acting springs. A special nested bearing structure is provided for the snap-acting springs. The pump is provided with coded inlet and outlet valve cartridges to preclude the improper assembly thereof within the pump housing.

Abstract: Flexible diaphragms mounted on the ends of a shaft contact a liquid to be dispensed (e.g., syrup bases). A chamber is located about the shaft side of each diaphragm, which chamber is in communication via shaft passages with outlets in the shaft wall. A valving member is slidingly received on the shaft and interconnected with a source of pressurized gas by a flexible hose. The valving members transfers from a position where one opening is in communication with the pressurized gas and the other opening is exposed, to a second position where the relationship of the shaft openings to the valving member is reversed. A pair of opposed coil openings urge the valving member past the longitudinal shaft center to reverse direction after the coils are sufficiently loaded, which results when the valving member is at the end of either shaft stroke.
