    Abstract: A latch assembly and valvetrain therewith can comprise a stationary housing comprising a plunger cavity, a plunger in the plunger cavity, and a controllable upper latch member. The plunger can comprise a control end, a plunger body, a spigot body and a spigot end. The controllable upper latch member can be configured to selectively act on the control end and can be configured to switch between locking the plunger from moving along a first axis and unlocking the plunger to slide in the plunger cavity along the first axis. A slidable transverse latch member or rotatable upper castellation body can act as the controllable upper latch member. While a valve bridge and rocker arm can be movable, the housing for the latch assembly can be stationary.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing compression release during a stop/start event in an engine. In one example, a method includes: responsive to a request for a stop/start event in an engine with a continuously variable valve lift (CVVL) system including a compression release hydraulic valve actuator coupled to a valve of a first cylinder, determining a desired stop position of the engine; and prior to restarting the engine during the stop/start event, adjusting the compression release hydraulic valve actuator to open the valve during a compression stroke of the first cylinder. In this way, an amount of torque used to restart the engine may be reduced.

    Abstract: A compression release mechanism including a camshaft, a cam provided on the camshaft and protruding outward in a radial direction of the camshaft, a lever, of which a portion is disposed in the camshaft, a support shaft supporting the lever such that the lever is swingable between a first position and a second position relative to the camshaft, and a spring attached to the camshaft, to urge the lever toward the first position. The decompression weight (51) is formed with a rotation restricting groove (51e) that restricts rotation of the decompression shaft (56) when a force acts in a direction in which the decompression cam (54) moves on the decompression shaft (56) from an advanced position to a retracted position when an engine (E) is stopped and that is continuous with the guide groove (51a).

    Abstract: A valve bridge system comprises a valve bridge configured to extend between at least two engine valves of an internal combustion engine. In one embodiment, a valve bridge guide is operatively connected to the valve bridge and configured to extend between at least two valve springs respectively corresponding to the at least two engine valves, the valve bridge guide defining a surface conforming to a valve spring of the at least two valve springs. In another embodiment, the valve bridge guide may comprise at least a first member maintained in a first fixed position relative to and at a predetermined distance from the valve bridge. In both embodiments, the valve bridge guide is configured to avoid contact with the valve bridge in a controlled state, but to permit contact with valve bridge to resist uncontrolled movement of the valve bridge.

    Abstract: A decompression pin is inserted into a swing range of an end portion of a rocker arm, on a side which is supported by a lash adjuster, when the rocker arm has been inclined toward a direction in which a valve is opened. The decompression pin comes into contact with the end portion of the rocker arm 4 when the rocker arm is inclined toward a direction in which the valve is closed, and thereby restricts the rocker arm from returning to a position at which the valve is completely closed, and the valve becomes in a slightly opened state even in a compression stroke.

    Abstract: A method for starting an internal combustion engine, having which has at least one cylinder, a controllable starter and a controllable fuel injection device, at least one cylinder, in particular every cylinder, of the internal combustion engine being assigned at least one decompression valve for reducing the compression which takes place during the operation of the internal combustion engine in the case of a compression stroke. A defined starting rotational speed is predetermined in the control unit, that, in the case of a controlled activation of the starter, the at least one decompression valve is opened in an automatically controlled manner by means of a control unit, and that the control unit detects the current rotational speed of the internal combustion engine and, when the defined starting rotational speed is reached, closes the at least one decompression valve and activates the fuel injection device.
