Abstract:
A frame assembly with strengthened corners is described. The frame assembly includes internal corner sets that squeeze or pull mitered or angled edges of frame sections together. The corner sets fit into openings at corners between adjacent frame sections. The frame assembly includes corner braces that snap lock over a corner between adjacent frame sections. The corner braces fit over exterior surfaces of the frame sections forming the frame assembly. The corner brace snaps into grooves in the exterior surfaces of the frame sections. The frame assembly includes a corner member that engages to an outer flange of joining frame sections. The corner member spans the corner between the joining frame sections.
Abstract:
A connection assembly 10 usable for interconnecting two elongate frame members 12 which each include a channel 14. An elongate link member 22 is locatable in the channels 14 of the adjacent members 12 and extending therebetween. A respective connection assembly 20 is locatable in each of the channels 14 to engage against the link member 22 and retain same in the respective channel 14. Each connection assembly 20 is selectively movable between an engaged and a disengaged condition to respectively connect the two frame members 12, or permit the frame members 12 to be pulled apart.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a corner fastener for securing a first and second frame member together to form a corner of a frame. The corner fastener, in one embodiment, includes a first leg member cooperatively connected to a second leg member. Proximal sections of the leg members have raised surfaces which act as a pivoting point when the corner lock is utilized. In addition, the leg members have distal sections which are deformable, during installation, to assist in the alignment and adjustment of the mitre angle.
Abstract:
A device for joining frame members of a picture frame of the type comprising a pair of upper and lower frame members, a pair of side frame members and four joint members, each frame member being integrally formed with a laterally extended groove into which are inserted a glass plate and a back plate and a dovetail groove into which is inserted the joint member, characterized in that a ridge is extended at the bottom of each frame member in the longitudinal direction thereof; and handles with cam surfaces for frictional engagement with the dovetail grooves of the frame members are pivotably attached to each joint member.
Abstract:
A pair of frame members have ends beveled at an angle of 45.degree. and mated with one another to provide a miter joint. The frame members have perpendicularly arranged plates each having an opening adjacent its one end to provide a separate end portion. A corner angle is mounted on the plates and has a pair of legs each having a projection of a V-shaped cross-section received in one of the openings. The V-shaped projections jointly provide a pair of substantially parallel members for clamping the separate end portions, the parallel members being fastened together by a screw passing therethrough. As the screw is tightened, the clamping members are moved closer to fasten the separate end portions securely together and to press the angle legs against the plates of the frame members.
Abstract:
A coupling assembles structural members at least one of which has an opening and another of which has grooves extending along its outer surface. The coupling has two yieldably spaced body portions inserted within the opening of the one structural member. Each body portion has a claw which protrudes from the opening in the one member and is received in a groove of the other structural member. A fastener extends between the yieldably spaced body portions for moving the body portions until each claw grips a side of the groove in which it is received to assemble the structural members. The fastener also connects the structural member having the opening to the coupling and the claws and grooves have cooperatively inclined gripping surfaces for drawing the one structural member into firm butting engagement with the other when the claws grip the grooves.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a fixed frame or opening frame, resulting from an assembly of joinery profiles, forming the mullions and the cross-members of the frame, with the profiles of the mullions and the cross-member profiles being assembled by their ends. The frame includes at least one device for compressing, including at least one mechanical connection extending interiorly along an intermediary portion of the frame, the at least one mechanical connection connecting by its ends of supports of the device for compressing, the supports being integral respectively with mullions or cross-members, on either side of the intermediate portion of the frame, the mechanical connection being solicited in traction in order to provide the maintaining under constraint of the ends of the joinery profiles of the intermediate portion of the frame against the corresponding ends of the joinery profiles, arranged on either side of the intermediate portion, belonging to the mullions or cross-members.
Abstract:
An angular body secures mitered ends of frame members together. A screw in the body displaces rows of balls to engage respective teeth which can be cammed outwardly and engage in opening of the frame members to draw the frame members tightly against one another.
Abstract:
A clamp assembly for use in constructing a picture frame consists of two superposed, separate plates. One plate has a threaded aperture for receipt of a jacking screw, and the other has a recess for engaging the tip of the screw, the axes of which are offset when the lateral edges of the plates are in mutual registry. Advancement of the screw separates and shifts the plates, thus exerting lateral as well as a transverse gripping forces upon the frame members.
