    Abstract: The present disclosure refers to a latch assembly including a locking bar configured to be movable into (i) an engaged configuration with a storage compartment which enables an access door to be placed and held into a closed position and (ii) a disengaged configuration with the storage compartment in a vehicle to be placed into an opened position and a shape memory alloy (SMA) actuator. The SMA actuator comprises an SMA wire guided around a conductive pulley, and the SMA actuator is configured to move the locking bar into the disengaged configuration and permit the access door of the storage compartment in the vehicle to open. The present disclosure also refers to vehicle storage compartment with such a latch assembly and a method of activation and deactivation of such a latch assembly.

    Abstract: A locking assembly can achieve positive locking of a tailgate, by including a guideblock having a guide slot defined therein, a lockplate configured to be slidably received within the guide slot, and a clevis that is configured to operatively cooperate with the lockplate. A locking hook formed in the lockplate will capture a pin in the clevis to achieve the desired locking capabilities. A capture pin is removably coupled to the guideblock and positioned within a containment in the lockplate to control travel. An actuator is coupled at one end to a portion of the vehicle and at the other end to the lockplate in a manner to cause movement of the lockplate and subsequent movement of the tailgate in an opening direction. The actuator is further configured to cause the tailgate to move in a closing direction until reaching a closed position and then moving the lockplate from an unlocked position to a locked position, thus causing the locking hook to capture the pin in the clevis and further causing the tailgate to be positively locked.

    Abstract: A system for controlling a vehicle power tailgate includes a latch structured to be movable to a latching position when the latch is engaged with a portion of a tailgate so as to maintain the tailgate in a closed position associated with the latching position of the latch. A latch actuator operably connected to the latch to control operation of the latch. A memory is communicably coupled to the processor and stores a tailgate control module including instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to, responsive to receipt of a tailgate opening command, control operation of the latch actuator to attempt move the latch to an over-stroke position of the latch and, responsive to a failure to move the latch to the over-stroke position within a predetermined time period, control operation of the latch actuator to move the latch to a fully-latched position of the latch.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle lock has a pawl and a catch that may be moved into an open position, a preliminary latching position and a main latching position. In one latching position, that catch is or may be brought into holding engagement with a lock striker. During a cinching routine, the catch is moved into its main latching position by a cinching drive. An overload clutch with two clutch elements is provided in the drive train between the cinching drive and the catch. The clutch elements are in engagement with each other for the transmission of cinching forces. The engagement is load dependent in a beginning section of the cinching routine, such that the engagement, and thereby the overload clutch, is disconnected in reaction to exceeding a predefined limit load in the drive train. The engagement is load independent in the remaining, subsequent section of the cinching routine.

    Abstract: An automatic hatch assembly for bulk material containers, and especially for bulk material containers on vehicles, provides for the remote control and automated operation of opening/closing, locking/unlocking, and/or sealing/unsealing hatch functions. The hatch covers a fill opening of the container, and may be retrofitted to existing containers equipped with conventional hatch covers. A drive unit is operable to open and close the hatch cover, and a locking assembly actuates extendable lock members. Optionally, a pneumatic seal is provided within the cover for sealing the container from the outside environment. The locking assembly may be particularly well-suited to resisting opening forces applied to the cover, such as when the container is pressurized, and a sequencing controller may be provided to facilitate automated operation.
