A heddle for jacquard machines essentially consisting of fiber-reinforced plastic material, with a thread eye formed by a mail or thread eyelet member (12) of a harder material. The heddle body comprises two legs (3, 4). Between the relatively wide thread eye region (5) and the legs (3, 4), ramp sections (6) are provided on the mail, which sections have a length that is greater than the length of the thread eye (1). Preferably, the length is greater than twice the longitudinal extension of the thread eye, and in most cases, is between 10 and 30 mm. As a result of this measure, the wear of the plastic material in the vicinity of the thread eye (13) is kept minimal enough that neither any damage to the stiffening fibers (22) in the body of plastic material nor any damage to the warp threads needs to be feared.

A weaving system is provided to automatically maintain a printed pattern in alignment with a woven pattern as a fabric is being formed. The printed pattern is printed onto the warp yarns. A controller is used to monitor the position of the printed pattern during the weaving process relative to the position of a woven pattern that is being formed into the fabric. Should the printed pattern and woven pattern fall out of alignment, the controller then alters the longitudinal size of the woven pattern, the printed pattern, or both patterns, in order to realign the patterns.

A lifter mechanism for a Jacquard machine is connected to two hooks. This mechanism has one lifter element with two rollers and one roller element. This mechanism also has one lifter cord passing around under the top roller of the lifter element and is fixed by each end to one of the hooks while the roller element is immovably fixed below the lifter element. The mechanism has an additional lifter cord which is fixed by one end next to the other lifter cord to one of the hooks. This lifter cord is passed around under the roller of the roller element, around over the bottom roller of the lifter element, and is extended back down, where it connected to the warp threads. The rollers are placed on shafts, which, in a horizontal plane, form an angle (.alpha.) relative to a line parallel to the direction of the knives. The roller of the roller element is placed on a shaft which, in a horizontal plane along the other side, forms an angle (.beta.) relative to a line parallel to the direction of the knives, while the outsides of the flank pieces and of the side plates are situated in vertical planes lying at right angles to the direction of the knives.
